You will further be responsible for performing analytical and evaluative work involving mathematics, statistics, and business knowledge to address workforce or mission issues and generate data-driven solutions in the analysis of FS program operations and decision alternatives. Finally, you will develop models for evaluation and assess data validity and reliability to aid stakeholders in understanding and utilizing analytical reports.\nWhat does a typical day look like for the Data Scientist / Manager?\n You will:\nConsult with cross-functional teams on thedesign and conduct of projects or studies to evaluate and resolve complex\nproblems.\n\nAdvise on the potential of data to providenew insights into the agency's mission.\n\nIdentify, collect, cleanse, and analyzestructured and unstructured data used to support assigned projects or\nprogram(s).\n\nExplore patterns, correlations, andcausations from various systems and datasets to provide a synopsis of\nemerging trends, challenges, and recommendations for change.\n\nApply data visualization techniques, suchas dashboards, scorecards, and graphs, to create solutions that enable\nenhanced agency performance and decision making.\n\nParticipate in the preparation andpresentation of project briefings to communicate results and\nrecommendations for operational improvements.\n\nManage, input, extract and interpret datausing Forest Service asset management software.\n\nPerform various routine administrativetasks and interface with multiple resource groups to maintain complete and\naccurate databases of asset portfolios in accordance with USDA directives.\n\nWhat qualifications do you look for?\nYou might be the professional we’re looking for if you have:\nAuthorization to work in the U.S. permanently without sponsorship.\nA Bachelor’sDegree with (2) years of relevant experience OR a Master’s degree\nand (1) year of relevant experience OR (10) years of relevant\nexperience, in lieu of an education credential (Relevant\nExperience is defined as work involving data analytics; data input, retrieval\nand visualization; programming and automation using Python, R, or similar;\nand/or applying statistical techniques and machine learning.).\n\nWe are extra impressed by folks with:\nFamiliarity with USDA Forest Service missions, data systems, andland management policies.\n\nKnowledge of federal datagovernance standards (e.g., FAIR data principles, OMB policies).\n\nWhat kind of benefits does Terrestris Offer?
