Collaborate with source data owners, security analysts, and engineers to manage the data catalog, lineage, data dictionary, and data transformation processes.\nAI-enabled and Conversational Analytics: Enable security teams to interact with and analyse data using natural language and AI, reducing the reliance on writing SQL or building traditional reports and to support data exploration, insight generation, summarisation and storytelling.\nAI-ready Data Products: Ensure data products, semantic models and metadata are designed to support AI and GenAI use cases, with appropriate governance, access controls, quality and trusted context to enable reliable AI-driven analytics.\nIn addition to the above core accountabilities, I am also responsible for,\nContributing to and supporting the ongoing recruitment and talent development process for cyber data team at Tesco\nProviding reporting and insight to key stakeholders, including the cyber security leadership team\nThe management of service providers and teams I work with inside and outside of Tesco\nKey people and teams I work within and outside of Tesco:\nPeople, budgets, and other resources I am accountable for in my job:\nMembers of the cyber data platform team (Heads, Managers, Product Managers, Data Platform Engineers, Analytics Engineers, Machine Learning Engineers and Software Engineers)\nMembers of the broader security team (Heads, Product Managers, Security Managers, Security Engineers, Security Testers, Security Analysts and Risk & Compliance team members)\nSecurity Stakeholders across Tesco\n3rd Parties/Vendors\nLine management of analytics engineers in my team\nCyber analytics engineering budget\nRepresenting cyber data products to senior stakeholders\nYou will need\nOperational skills relevant for this job:\nStrong written, verbal and presentation skills\nStrong analytical skills, with the ability to correlate and identify trends, patterns, and outlier within large security datasets and telemetry\nAbility to work with and evaluate AI-assisted analytics and conversational data tools.\nUnderstanding of prompt engineering and effective use of foundation models such as OpenAI and Claude for analytics use cases.\nExperience with collaborative development methods such as mob or ensemble programming\nExperience relevant for this job:\nRelevant experience as an Engineering or BI Manager, leading teams and managing data projects at scale\nSolid experience with data warehousing principles, data modelling and data architecture\nHighly proficient in SQL with solid experience with programming languages like Python\nExperience working with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, GCP) and big data technologies like Spark\nWorking knowledge of ETL and ELT frameworks and tools like dbt\nExperience using AI/GenAI capabilities to support analytics, data exploration or insight generation.\nFamiliarity with AI platforms and tools such as Databricks Genie, AI Agents, OpenAI or Claude, with an understanding of prompts, model evaluation.\nUnderstanding of how to design trusted, governed and well-documented data products that can be consumed by AI applications.\nWorking knowledge of Version Control and CI/CD pipelines\nHiring, developing, and retaining cyber analytics talent\nAbility to provide clear input, guide, empower the team to achieve desired outcomes\nDeveloping working relationships with various teams and stakeholders at all levels of seniority to drive data driven decisions and enable end users to make informed decisions through data and AI\nKnowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices\nAbout us\nYou might know us as a supermarket, technology company or even for our award-winning mobile network.
