About the role

As a Lead Product Manager you are accountable to build and run a small team of Product Managers and be responsible for creating and articulating the clear strategic direction for Customer Fulfilment. Within Customer Fulfilment Automation we are building software to work with automation, enabling our colleagues, dotcom managers and operations managers to effectively manage the fulfilment of customer orders from automated sites. As a Lead PM you will be expected to represent your product to senior leadership, know your area of the business inside and out and have a clear understanding of all key metrics and product performance. As you progress in this role it becomes less about the "doing" itself, but the ability to empower and grow your team to deliver value.

This role will require someone to be based in the office 3 days a week and also travel to sites (Stores and Fulfilment Centres) in order to spend time with users.

You will be responsible for

  • Will proactively partner with peers and senior stakeholders to set the future direction of my product as part of the wider business strategy
  • Evolve and drive the product vision, strategy, and the long-term roadmap
  • Understand key user personas, customers & stakeholders for the product and their pain points.
  • Am accountable for the performance/ adoption of the product and work towards achieving the Outcomes and Key Results (OKRs)
  • Prioritise work and decisively resolve trade-offs with peers and senior leaders
  • Effectively document and explain new requirements to the engineering team using user stories with acceptance criteria and help the team in breaking down complex work into smaller, deliverable chunks of value that can be delivered faster.
  • Steer sprint/ release planning sessions by working with the engineering counterparts to plan sprints/ releases that deliver maximum business value in least effort
  • Drive the acceptance and adoption of ideas and improvements with product teams and engineering stakeholders
  • Prioritise coordinate and communicate the resolution of live product issues independently
  • Provide leadership and direction to cross functional team (s) on short-term tasks/ near-term priorities
  • Identify and remove impediments faced by the team by working with your Head of Product and other stakeholders and proactively flag any risks or delays in your commitments
  • Build and nurture a great team of Product Managers for my product, based on the business needs, strategic priorities assigned, and level of focus required
  • Empower and develop my team to continually deliver value

You will need

  • You will be an experienced Product Manager with Customer Fulfilment Automation experience
  • Strong knowledge of UX/UI disciplines and principles of the products you work on
  • Appraise and analyse the results of customer research and use the results to influence product outcomes and strategic goals.
  • Know how diverse personas or customer groups perceive, understand and experience product in different ways
  • Able to write hypothesis statements and work directly with optimisation managers and/or engineers to set up and execute experiments
  • Know how large technology systems should interact with each other and track health metrics (uptime, SLOs, response time, etc)
  • Involved in setting the vision and strategy for my product area and develop and baseline my product's OKRs
  • Engage with and am actively involved in market research, leveraging insights to shape the vision and strategic direction of the product in line with business and
  • Technology goals and customer expectations.
  • Skilled in using various data types in different situations and know when to use quantitative and/or qualitative data
  • Apply the concepts of machine learning and AI to the products I create, working with data scientists and engineers to deliver value through product
  • Understand large scale data platforms and how they can increase the scalability, availability, performance, and security of my organisation’s data
  • Understand the Product Management lifecycle, product delivery process and the importance of an Agile mindset to discover, design, define, develop and deliver small increments of the most important opportunities that will drive growth and value for my product
  • Understand the importance of using data to prioritise and adopting a consistent approach to prioritisation
  • Know how to use relevant tools to produce and update roadmaps for my product
  • Understand the importance of a product roadmap in creating buy-in from stakeholders and other teams
  • Understand my business, including the key commercial drivers, business metrics and performance indicators, and can play a part in the decision-making process.
  • Able to continually deliver value through your product team
