About the role
People Data sits at the heart of Tesco’s colleague strategy-enabling trusted, high-quality data to power decision-making, regulatory reporting, and colleague experiences.
This role is accountable for the end-to-end delivery, governance and integrity of the People Data portfolio, ensuring programmes are aligned to business priorities, regulatory requirements, and enterprise data standards.
You will operate across a complex, multi-programme landscape (CSRD Reporting, Workforce dashboards, Compliance, Data Quality, and platform capabilities), bringing clarity, structure and pace to ambiguous and interdependent delivery challenges.
A key focus is driving clear data ownership, governance and accountability across business and technology, ensuring that data products are trusted, scalable, and audit-ready.

You will be responsible for
- Regulatory reporting (e.g., CSRD)
- Workforce insights (Headcount, DE&I, Absence, Compliance)
- Data products such as dashboards, analytics and forecasting
- Foundational capabilities including data quality, governance, access controls and ingestion frameworks.
The landscape is complex, spanning multiple workstreams, dependencies on business data ownership, and evolving governance and platform capabilities. This role plays a key leadership position in ensuring delivery is coherent, governed, and aligned to business outcomes, so that Tesco can rely on People Data as a trusted foundation for regulatory compliance and strategic decision-making.
In this role I:
- Deliver complex programmes with multiple business and technical risks that will impact the success of key Tesco business priorities
- Line manage a team to help deliver the associated outcome & develop talent within the TPM community
- Establish new or improve existing delivery methodology to deliver the programme goals
- Initiate and shape programmes with ambiguous scope and uncertain delivery approach
- Create and track a plan to deliver the programme goals, including the technical implementation plan
- Provide expert advice and guidance on programme delivery (mentoring other TPMs and supporting Engineering/Product teams)
- Understand trade-offs in software delivery, using experience and influencing skills to drive consensus with the Engineering and Product teams to obtain the best value and solution
- Am able to foresee potential risks and issues, establish a process, facilitate discussion and manage escalations
You will need
An ideal candidate will have:
A proven record of accomplishment in delivering complex, cross-functional data or platform technology programmes having done so across multiple teams and multiple geographies
- Strong experience in compliance, regulatory, reporting or data and analytics type programmes
- Experience of building credible relationships and influencing senior management & leadership teams
- Experience in & a passion for People Management
- Strong Project, Stakeholder & Programme management skills
- Excellent communication & influencing skills, particularly in translating technical complexity into business outcomes.
