About the role
At Tesco, our Maintenance team helps create safe, compliant and efficient environments for customers and colleagues every day. As a Maintenance Standards Technician you will cover a region across the UK playing a key role in driving consistency, quality and operational excellence across our maintenance operation.
Acting as an operational subject matter expert, you'll support both internal teams and external suppliers through assurance activities, coaching, training and continuous improvement initiatives. You'll use your expertise in maintenance processes, systems and technology to identify opportunities for improvement, share best practice and help deliver quicker, better and more cost-effective maintenance operations.

You will be responsible for
- Delivering the Maintenance Standards Assurance Programme across the field operation.
- Carrying out audits and assurance activities to ensure compliance with maintenance processes, systems and operational standards.
- Providing insights, feedback and recommendations to field management teams, helping identify opportunities to improve performance and consistency.
- Supporting the delivery of continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with UK and Tesco Business Services teams.
- Coaching and supporting internal colleagues and external suppliers on the correct use of maintenance processes, systems and technology.
- Working with field teams to develop and deliver localised improvement plans that drive operational performance.
- Capturing, analysing and maintaining audit and assurance data, ensuring consistency, accuracy and impartiality.
- Supporting the onboarding of new colleagues through the delivery of process, system and technology training.
- Developing and delivering routine training programmes in response to business change or identified capability gaps.
- Creating and facilitating operational systems training for technicians and contractors.
- Reviewing and maintaining system training content and online documentation within Tesco Help.
- Ensuring community, customer and colleague welfare remains at the heart of every decision made.
- Managing your workload effectively while maintaining a focus on quality, compliance and customer outcomes.
You will need
- Experience in field service delivery and operational environments.
- Experience coaching, mentoring or conducting peer reviews.
- Strong planning, organisation and prioritisation skills.
- Knowledge of asset management principles and maintenance operations.
- Understanding of quality management systems and standards, including ISO 9001.
- Experience supporting process improvement activities using Lean, Six Sigma or equivalent methodologies.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage colleagues and suppliers at all levels.
- Confidence interpreting operational data and translating findings into practical improvement recommendations.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
- Good training and facilitation skills, with the ability to explain technical processes clearly and effectively.
