The team is responsible for orchestrating and managing software rollouts across thousands of retail stores using cloud-native and edge-based solutions.\nAs a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, build, and operate the observability capabilities that provide visibility into deployment workflows, store health, device status, and platform reliability across thousands of geographically distributed retail locations. As a Disability Confident Employer, we’re committed to providing a fully inclusive and accessible recruitment process, allowing candidates the opportunity to thrive and inform us of any reasonable adjustments they may require\nYou will be responsible for\nDesign and implement metrics, logging, tracing, and telemetry solutions across cloud and edge components. \nBuild monitoring pipelines, dashboards, and alerting frameworks that provide actionable insights into deployment health, device status, and store operations. \nDefine and maintain Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and reliability metrics for mission-critical deployment services. \nCreate operational analytics for deployment performance, software rollout progress, failure detection, and capacity planning. \nIntegrate telemetry from cloud services, edge devices, deployment agents, and infrastructure components into centralized monitoring platforms. \nBuild automated detection and root-cause analysis capabilities using modern observability practices and tooling. \nDevelop self-service dashboards and reporting capabilities for engineering, support, and operations teams. \nDrive observability standards, instrumentation practices, and monitoring strategies across the Retail Platform ecosystem.\nYou will need\nMandatory skills:\n6+ years of experience in software engineering\nStrong Java development skills (Spring Framework) \nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset \nBasic system design skillset \nDeep understanding of metrics, logs, traces, alerting strategies, and performance monitoring. \nExperience with modern observability frameworks and standards such as OpenTelemetry \nKnowledge of event-driven systems and event sourcing patterns \nHands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing \n\nNice to Have:\nFamiliarity with SQL databases and distributed systems concepts \nKnowledge of Kubernetes and Docker \nExperience in monitoring and observability tools. \nHands-on experience with monitoring and visualization platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Victoria Metrics or New Relic. \nExperience troubleshooting complex distributed systems in production environments. \nUnsure if you fit all the criteria?
