You get to work on advancing power electronics used for Tesla products globally, thereby directly contributing to the acceleration of the world's transition to sustainable energy. \n### What You’ll Do\nOwn electro-mechanical design of plastics, sheet metal, die castings, heat sinks / cold plates, insulation systems, magnetic components, HV connectors, fasteners, busbars, and PCBA-adjacent structures\nSolve electronics packaging end-to-end: thermal management, electrical isolation, sealing, interconnection, shock/vibration/strain, EMI, and RF interfaces\nAnalyze before you cut metal: thermal / CFD, structural FEA, tolerance stacks, DFM / DFA / DFR; DFMEA where it matters\nDesign custom magnetics and power interfaces (inductors, transformers, filter chokes, terminals) as first-class mechanical products — not afterthoughts\nPartner tightly with electrical, firmware, systems, manufacturing, compliance, and test so mechanical choices enable — not fight — converter performance\nDrive prototypes into reality: builds, fixture/test support, characterization, design verification, root-cause on failures\nRelease for production: drawing packages, manufacturing instructions, PLM / ECOs / deviations / BOM structure, supplier and factory collaboration\nShip globally: designs that land in vehicles, residential/industrial energy products, and charging systems manufactured at scale\n### What You’ll Bring\nBachelor degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience;\nStrong mechanical fundamentals and a first-principles problem-solving style\nProven product design ownership (from concept to validated hardware to scaled production, or equivalent depth)\nFluency in 3D CAD (CATIA V5 / 3DEXPERIENCE V6 strongly preferred)\nWorking knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and design for high-volume manufacturing (injection molding, stamping, die casting, fastening, joining, dispensing)\nAbility to run or critically consume thermal / CFD / structural analysis (ANSYS, StarCCM, COMSOL, or equivalent)\nComfort with PCBAs, basic electrical fundamentals, and collaborating across EE / PE domains Highly valued:\nDirect experience in power electronics packaging, inverters, chargers, DC-DC, magnetics, busbars, or HV semiconductor modules\nMultiphysics intuition: heat transfer + fluids + mechanics + materials (+ magnetics a strong plus)\nMATLAB / Python for data reduction, scripting, or reduced-order thermal models\nPLM / change control / BOM discipline in a fast-moving product environment\nExposure to automotive, industrial, or residential reliability / safety / environmental standards\nHands-on lab instinct — you would rather instrument a prototype than argue from a slide\nTesla is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
