Key initiatives include replacing end-of-life network hardware, deploying enhanced Wi-Fi solutions, and provisioning high-speed internet connectivity services overlayed with SDWAN technology.\nThe programme will also progress alternative connectivity options such as satellite and 5G solutions for disaster recovery and rapid deployment, while supporting facility expansion projects.\nComprehensive wireless surveys and design work will be a significant part of this engagement, with ad-hoc travel required to the UK national grid sites to conduct physical Wi-Fi surveys and Desktop surveys with Ekahau tools.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, deploy and optimise enterprise wireless LAN solutions across office and industrial environments.\nConduct wireless surveys (predictive & on-site), RF analysis and coverage optimisation.\nLead troubleshooting for complex Wi-Fi issues, including authentication, interference and performance degradation.\nCreate and update Low-Level Designs (LLDs) for Wi-Fi, NAC and related network services.\nProduce accurate Bill of Materials (BoM) for new deployments, refresh programmes and upgrade initiatives.\nSupport Wi-Fi lifecycle management including hardware upgrades, software updates and capacity planning.\nWork with stakeholders across IT, operations and platform teams to define requirements and deliver scalable solutions.\nContribute to standards, best practices, design documentation and knowledge sharing within the network engineering chapter.\nRequired Skills & Experience\nStrong hands-on experience with enterprise WLAN technologies (Cisco, Aruba).\nDeep understanding of:\nRF fundamentals (channel planning, power, interference mitigation)\n802.11 standards including Wi-Fi 5/6/6E/7\nWLAN authentication (EAP methods, RADIUS, role-based access)\nEnterprise controllers, cloud-managed Wi-Fi platforms and policy engines\nProficiency with wireless survey tools (Ekahau, Hamina etc.)\nExperience with Cradlepoint, or similar 5G cellular-enabled networking platforms\nExperience supporting large-scale Wi-Fi environments in complex organisations.\nExperience with ISE and Aruba ClearPass for 802.1X, RADIUS, profiling and role-based access\nAbility to interpret network analytics, performance data and incident trends.\nExcellent communication skills and comfort engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nAble to travel ad-hoc to National Grid locations for onsite pre and post deployment Wi-Fi surveys\nDesirable Certifications\nCWNP (CWNA, CWDP, CWSP, CWNE)\nCisco Wireless
