In this role, you will oversee microbiological testing activities in support of commercial and stability products while ensuring compliance with GMP, GLP, and regulatory requirements. You will provide technical leadership to a team of microbiologists, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and serve as a key subject matter expert for microbiology-related operations and inspections.\nHow You’ll Spend Your Day\nLead and develop a team of microbiologists through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and training.\nOversee microbiological testing activities including:Non-sterile pharmaceutical product testing\nEnvironmental monitoring\nAntimicrobial effectiveness testing\nMicrobial identification using compendial and in-house methods\n\nReview and approve laboratory data, reports, investigations, deviations, and change controls.\nEnsure data integrity and compliance through adherence to ALCOA+ principles and robust documentation practices.\nSupport and lead laboratory investigations, troubleshooting activities, and root cause analyses.\nAct as the microbiology subject matter expert during regulatory inspections and customer audits.\nCollaborate cross-functionally with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Regulatory Affairs, and other Quality Control teams.\nDrive laboratory process improvements, compliance initiatives, and operational excellence projects.\nManage laboratory resources, supplies, and scheduling to support manufacturing and product release timelines.\nPromote a strong culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.\nYour Skills and Experience\nBachelor's degree in Microbiology or a related scientific discipline.\nAdvanced degree is considered an asset.\nMinimum 8 years of experience in a pharmaceutical microbiology laboratory.\nPrevious people leadership or supervisory experience.\nExperience supporting regulatory inspections and audits.\nStrong knowledge of pharmaceutical microbiology principles and compendial standards (USP, EP, JP).\nExperience with microbiological testing methods and laboratory instrumentation, including:Endotoxin testing systems\nMicrobial identification platforms (e.g., Vitek, Biolog, Omnilog)\nAutoclaves and sterility isolators\n\nThorough understanding of GMP, cGMP, and GLP requirements.\nStrong knowledge of data integrity and quality systems.\nProven leadership and team development capabilities.\nExcellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nExperience writing and reviewing SOPs, investigations, technical reports, and quality documentation.\nStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications and laboratory information systems (LIMS).\nHow We’ll Take Care of You\nAt Teva Canada we provide a rewarding and collaborative work experience, with career growth and development opportunities for employees, in a safe and caring environment! The typical hiring range for this position is $92,560-$115,700. The base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, this role may qualify for an annual bonus based on employment type.
