Focus will be placed on conducting advanced scientific research to improve or better understand the quality, safety, and sustainability of meat and its byproduct. This role is positioned at the research intersection of meat biochemical and compositional research and practical applications for the livestock and meat industries.\nResponsibilities:\nResponsibilities will include but are not limited to,\ngeneration of research samples through collection and processing,\nexecution of laboratory assays,\nfulfilling compliance related tasks for EHS, IRB, and IACUC,\nwriting and disseminating research summaries and articles,\ncontributing to research proposals,\nsupporting the training of graduate and undergraduate students and,\nperforms other duties as assigned.\nQualifications:\nRequired Education and Experience:\nPhD in Animal Science, with emphasis in meat science and muscle biology\nRequired Qualifications:\nExperience with statistical analysis software\nAbility to multi-task and work cooperatively with others\nPreferred Qualifications:\nPrior experience planning and executing meat science research\nPrior experience in meat animal and carcass evaluation\nPrior experience collecting samples in a commercial abattoir\nPrior experience measuring meat quality attributes in laboratory\nPrior experience writing and publishing peer reviewed manuscripts in meat related journals\nOther Requirements:\nIn order to be considered for this position prior to your doctoral degree being conferred, please attach a letter from your school’s official Graduate Office, Registrar’s Office or PhD Committee Chair certifying that all requirements for the doctoral degree have been met and stating the degree conferral date.\nThis position is funded through grants or contracts.
