Performs animal studies and all aspects of mammalian cell culture and downstream assays including protein and nucleic acids assays.\nWhat you need to know\nOther Factors: The research directions in the Lee lab include 1) animal studies with type 1 diabetes models, 2) testing the therapeutic potential of MSCs and MSC-derived EVs in animal models, 3) elucidating mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effects of MSCs and MSC-EVs in animal models. The Lee Lab is funded by NIH/NIDDK.\nQualifications:\nRequired Education and Experience:\nAppropriate doctoral degree\nRequired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:\nAbility to multitask and work cooperatively with others.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nPhD in in immunology or cell biology.\nExperience in experimentation with rodents and immune cell cultures.\nExperience in experimentation with immunology research or extracellular vesicles\nKnowledge of lab room preparation and lab techniques and safety.\nWilling to work with laboratory animals\nMust have an excellent attitude and willingness to learn new techniques appropriate to job functions.\nMust pay attention to detail, keep accurate and up to date research records, maintain equipment records, and follow established protocols.\nStrong English verbal and written communication skills.\nAbility to work in a Biosafety Level 2 lab and follow all guidelines.\nAbility to perform all tasks and job responsibilities safely without injury to self and others in compliance with A&M System and HSC guidelines.\nResponsibilities:\nLaboratory Research\nConducts all aspects of mammalian cell cultures and downstream assays including isolation of extracellular vesicles from cell culture conditioned medium and protein/nucleic acids assays (RT-PCR, western blot and ELISAs).\nAnimal Research\nAssists with all aspects of in vivo experiments with laboratory animals (handling animals, drug administration and tissue collections, etc), tissue processing and histological analysis.\nCollaboration\nCollaborates with other researchers/doctors to perform research on the area of expertise.\nCooperates with other members of the laboratory staff in maintaining all instruments and maintaining a safe environment for all throughout the IRM facilities.\nPrepare research data\nPrepares research data for publication and presentations at scientific meetings.\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\nWhy Texas A&M University?\nWe are a prestigious university with strong traditions, Core Values, and a community of caring and collaboration.
