Other duties may be assigned.\nAdditional Responsibilities\nAssist the director in maintaining smooth operations of the Center for Earth and Environmental Studies (CEES).\nProvide support for maintenance, programming and operations of CEES equipment and computers, including the EPA Radnet site present on the TAMIU campus.\nAssist with purchases of equipment and materials, such as hardware and software, to support the scientific operations of CEES.\nCollaborate with OIT personnel to acquire, install and maintain multiple server platforms on the TAMIU campus supporting CEES research activities.\nAssist the CEES Director with general clerical duties, as needed.\nMinimum Requirements\n Education - Three years towards a bachelor’s degree (generally 90 hours).\nExperience - Experience in computer programming preferred.\nAn equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.\nPreferred Education and Experience\nBachelor’s degree in MIS or other computer related field.\nTwo or more years experience that is relevant to the ongoing CEES projects.\nKnowledge and Abilities\nKnowledge of:\nWord processing, spreadsheet and database applications.\nAbility to:\nLearn new programming languages, techniques, and work process.\nPreferred Knowledge and Abilities\nKnowledge of:\nArcGIS Pro both at the user and administrator levels.\nPython, C++, Visual Basic and Matlab proficiency.\nAbility to:\nCommunicate effectively, orally and in writing.\nInteract effectively and professionally with the general public.\nPlan, organize and prioritize work responsibilities and assignments.\nAttention to detail.\nLearn new software and hardware configurations with minimal guidance.\nMaintain confidentiality.\nLicensing / Professional Certification - None.\nPhysical Requirements - General office environment\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
