And we believe great performance and genuine hospitality should go hand in hand.\nIf you want to build meaningful products, solve real problems and make a genuine difference for local businesses, we’d love to hear from you\nAssistant Financial Controller\nLocation: Lisbon, Portugal\nYour Mission\nAs an Assistnat Financial Controller at Teya, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity and reliability of our financial reporting while supporting the wider Finance function and partnering with teams across the business. You will help strengthen financial controls, improve reporting processes and ensure that our financial operations remain efficient, scalable and compliant with applicable requirements.\nYou will take ownership of key financial control activities, including month-end and year-end closing, account reconciliations, financial reporting and audit preparation. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external providers, you will ensure financial records are accurate, discrepancies are investigated and resolved, and reporting deadlines are consistently met.\nBeyond core financial control responsibilities, you will support the business in understanding financial performance, identifying key drivers and uncovering opportunities to improve processes. You will bring a structured, analytical approach to problem-solving, helping implement robust financial procedures and promote continuous improvement across Finance Operations.\nThis role offers the opportunity to contribute to a growing, fast-paced business, working collaboratively across teams to strengthen financial governance, support compliance and build high-quality, scalable finance processes at Teya.\nResponsibilities\nSupport the Finance function and partner with teams across the business to assess financial performance, identify key business drivers and improve financial processes and controls.\n\nCoordinate and support month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring financial records are complete, accurate and delivered within reporting deadlines.\n\nAssist in preparing monthly financial reports and annual financial statements, maintaining high standards of accuracy and consistency.\n\nPerform and review account reconciliations to ensure the integrity of financial records, investigate variances and resolve discrepancies against expected balances and budget assumptions.\n\nMonitor financial data and accounting records, identifying potential errors, inconsistencies or control weaknesses and working with relevant stakeholders to implement corrective actions.\n\nPrepare audit schedules, reconciliations and supporting financial analyses, ensuring documentation is accurate, complete and readily available.\n\nCoordinate the preparation of documentation and supporting evidence for external audits, working closely with auditors and internal teams to address requests efficiently.\n\nMaintain accurate financial records and documentation, ensuring compliance with internal policies, accounting principles and applicable regulatory requirements.\n\nWork closely with internal stakeholders to gather, validate and consolidate financial information for reporting, analysis and decision-making.\n\nSupport compliance obligations in partnership with external providers, ensuring relevant financial and statutory requirements are met accurately and on time.\n\nIdentify opportunities to strengthen internal controls, streamline accounting processes and improve the efficiency, consistency and quality of Finance Operations.\n\nContribute to the continuous improvement of financial reporting, procedures and systems, supporting the development of scalable processes as Teya grows.\n\nRequirements\n2-3+ years' experience in Financial Control, Financial Reporting, Accounting or a similar Finance role.\n\nA degree in Accounting, Finance, Management or a related discipline.\n\nFluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.\n\nPrevious experience in an audit environment, ideally with a Big Four firm or an internal audit function, is a strong advantage.\n\nStrong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, account reconciliations and internal financial controls.\n\nExperience supporting month-end and year-end closing processes, preparing financial statements and maintaining accurate accounting records.\n\nExperience preparing audit documentation and working with external auditors or other relevant stakeholders.\n\nKnowledge of SAP S/4HANA is an advantage.\n\nAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.\n\nStrong analytical and quantitative skills, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to investigate and resolve financial discrepancies.\n\nExcellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify root causes, assess risks and recommend practical solutions.\n\nA proactive, organised and hands-on approach, with the ability to learn quickly, manage competing priorities and take ownership of tasks.\n\nStrong stakeholder management and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across internal teams and external providers.\n\nWhat We Offer\nCompetitive salary.\n\nFlexible hybrid working.\n\nHealth Insurance.\n\nLife Insurance.\n\nMeal Allowance.\n\nWellhub membership, providing access to gyms, fitness, therapy, wellbeing and nutrition services.\n\nEnhanced maternity and paternity leave.\n\n25 days annual leave.\n\nContinuous learning and professional development opportunities.\n\nCollaborative, informal and high-performing working environment.\n\nRegular company and team events.\n\nThe opportunity to play an important role in building scalable, high-quality Finance Operations at Teya.\n\nTeya is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.\nWe are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, or background can thrive and do their best work.
