And we believe great performance and genuine hospitality should go hand in hand.\nIf you want to build meaningful products, solve real problems and make a genuine difference for local businesses, we’d love to hear from you\nYour Mission\nAs a Senior Software Engineer in the ePOS team, you’ll help shape the technology that supports Teya’s merchants across Europe.\nYour main focus will be a critical backend service, where you’ll join a small team and act as a senior technical contributor, helping raise engineering standards and supporting other engineers through guidance, collaboration and example.\nThis role is suited to an engineer who can become productive quickly, work autonomously and take ownership of both feature delivery and the operational health of the services they build.\nYou will be expected to:\nDesign, develop, and maintain clean, efficient, secure, and well-tested code to support critical business needs, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability across Teya's systems.\n\nTake ownership of features and projects throughout the full software development lifecycle, including scoping, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.\n\nCollaborate closely with cross-functional teams (including product, design, data science, security, and operations) to understand requirements, provide technical insights, and contribute to architecture discussions.\n\nBuild tools and integrate systems to enhance operational efficiency, reliability, and scalability of products across the business.\n\nContribute to process improvements, focusing on continuous integration, delivery, and deployment to ensure a smooth and stable development pipeline.\n\nParticipate in code reviews, share feedback constructively, and help elevate the overall quality and performance of the team’s output.\n\nMentor and support fellow developers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.\n\nStay updated with the latest trends and technologies in software engineering, payments, and fintech, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.\n\nAssist in troubleshooting complex issues related to our systems, providing timely resolutions to ensure uninterrupted service for our customers.\n\nHelp define and promote best practices in software development, including code quality, testing, automation, and security.\n\nServe as a subject matter expert in key areas, providing guidance and support to other teams.\n\nRequirements:\nAt least 5 years of professional software engineering experience.\n\nStrong experience building backend systems with Java 17+ and Spring Boot.\n\nProven ability to design, build and operate reliable services in production.\n\nExperience with system design, scalable architectures, microservices and API development.\n\nStrong understanding of databases, data structures, performance trade-offs and distributed systems.\n\nPractical experience with Kafka and event-driven systems.\n\nA strong focus on monitoring, observability, testing and operational ownership.\n\nExperience debugging complex issues across multiple services or systems.\n\nThe ability to work autonomously, make sound technical decisions and become productive quickly.\n\nClear communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics and influence technical direction.\n\nA collaborative approach and an interest in supporting the growth of other engineers.\n\nExperience working in an Agile or Scrum environment.\n\nNice to have:\nDegree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.\n\nPrevious experience in the Payments Industry, fintech, or Location and Business Recommendation Services platforms.\n\nExperience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes, Helm).\n\nExperience with current or specific frameworks, SDKs, APIs, and libraries relevant to Teya's technology stack (e.g. Laravel, Spring, Reactor).\n\nFamiliarity with authorisation systems (e.g., RBAC, ABAC, SpiceDB).\n\nExperience with Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) or Test-Driven Development (TDD).\n\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines.\n\nThe Perks\nWe trust you, so we offer flexible working hours, as long it suits both you and your team;\n\nHealth Insurance;\n\nPhysical and mental health support through our partnership with MyFitness;\n\n25 days of Annual leave (+ Bank Holidays);\n\nPossibility to visit other Teya offices to meet colleagues in instances when travel is safe and appropriate;\n\nFriday lunch in the office;\n\nFriendly, comfortable and high-end work equipment and informal office environment;\n\nHybrid work mode policy.\n\nTeya is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.\nWe are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, or background can thrive and do their best work.
