You’ll have the opportunity to put your stamp on the accounting function while joining a stable, family-oriented organization with a long-tenured team and ambitious plans for future growth.\nWhat You'll Own\nLead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, including financial statements and management reporting.\nOwn construction accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, revenue recognition, over/under billings, projected costs, and anticipated margins.\nPartner directly with Project Managers and Operations on cost-to-complete projections, job forecasts, budget-to-actual performance, and project profitability.\nMonitor backlog, projected revenue, gross profit, project cash flow, and overall financial performance.\nMaintain the integrity of the general ledger, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and internal controls.\nLead annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting while developing meaningful KPIs and reporting for leadership.\nOversee AP, AR, billing, collections, retainage, banking, bonding, insurance, and audit-related requests.\nProvide financial insight around equipment, staffing, investments, and other strategic business decisions.\nManage and support one direct report responsible for AP and payroll.\nEvaluate current accounting processes and strategically propose improvements that create greater efficiency, accountability, and visibility across the organization.\nPartner closely with executive leadership and Operations as the financial voice of the business.\nThe Scope\nThis individual will be the primary accounting owner for an approximately $40M construction operation, supported by one AP/payroll professional. The company typically manages 3-4 active projects at a time, with individual project values ranging from approximately $2M-$10M and project durations ranging from six months to two years. This is a hands-on Controller position. You need to be equally comfortable digging into job costing and WIP as you are sitting with leadership and discussing forecasts, margins, risks, and opportunities.\nWhat We're Looking For\nBachelor’s degree required.\nStrong construction accounting experience with a deep understanding of job costing and WIP.\nExperience with revenue recognition, cost-to-complete forecasting, project financial management, budgeting, and cash-flow management.\nAbility to independently own the accounting function within a project-based organization.\nStrong Excel skills; experience with Foundation Software or another construction ERP is a plus.\nStrategic mindset with the confidence to identify opportunities and bring well-thought-out proposals to leadership.\nComfortable working across Accounting, Operations, Project Management, and executive leadership.\nHigh level of trustworthiness, integrity, accountability, and discretion.\nGritty, hands-on mentality - someone willing to roll up their sleeves and own what needs to get done.\nStrong relationship-building skills and the ability to drive accountability without taking an overly corporate approach.\nWhy This Opportunity?\nThis is not a turnaround situation or an unstable organization looking for someone to clean up a mess.
