Backed by strong unit economics, experienced operators, and a proven playbook, we are looking for builders and operators who want to help scale a healthcare platform designed to deliver better care, better coordination, and better outcomes for seniors.\nAbout the Role\nAs our Controller, you will own Greenbrook Medical’s end-to-end accounting function and build the financial foundation that enables the company to scale.\nThis is not a traditional accounting role focused only on closing the books. You will be accountable for the integrity of our financial reporting and own the systems, processes, and controls that support our accounting operations, financial compliance, and continued growth. \nReporting to the VP of Finance, you will lead core accounting operations, including the close and financial reporting processes, while strengthening the financial infrastructure needed to support a fast-growing, multi-clinic healthcare organization. You will partner across the organization to bring order to complexity, improve how we operate, and ensure leaders have accurate and reliable financial information to make better decisions. \nThis role is ideal for someone who enjoys being a hands-on builder: someone who can dive into the details, create scalable processes, and elevate a finance function from good to great.\nLocation: New York City or Chicago preferred (Hybrid). Open to remote candidates.\nWhat You’ll Do\nAs Controller, you will be the senior accounting leader at Greenbrook and have ownership of the company's accounting function, including close, financial reporting, tax and compliance, accounting operations, internal controls, and audit. \nOwn Accounting, Close, and Financial Reporting:\nYou will own Greenbrook’s end-to-end accounting function and ensure our financial records are accurate, timely, and reliable.\nOwn the full monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, consolidations, and preparation of financial statements.\nOwn the general ledger, balance sheet, and financial reporting across all entities, ensuring the completeness and integrity of Greenbrook’s financial records.\nEstablish and maintain accounting policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP, including appropriate treatment of complex or significant transactions.\nOwn revenue accounting and reconciliation across payer arrangements, including capitation and value-based contracts, as well as accounting for medical claims liabilities, settlements, and other risk-related balances.\nManage external accounting and bookkeeping partners while maintaining internal ownership and accountability for the accuracy and timeliness of their work.\nBuild Scalable Financial Systems and Controls:\nYou will build the financial infrastructure and controls environment needed to support Greenbrook’s continued growth. \nDesign and maintain scalable accounting processes, internal controls, approval workflows, and financial policies.\nOwn core accounting operations, including accounts payable, procure-to-pay, cash accounting, bank reconciliations, payroll accounting, corporate cards, expense management, and related balance sheet processes.\nPartner with the VP of Finance to establish spend approval policies and ensure company spending is appropriately authorized and aligned with approved budgets.\nOwn and continuously improve the accounting systems and financial technology stack, identifying opportunities to automate manual processes and improve efficiency and data quality.\nAssess accounting resource needs and build the appropriate combination of internal talent, external partners, systems, and processes as Greenbrook scales.\nOwn Tax, Audit, and Compliance\nYou will ensure Greenbrook’s financial and compliance obligations are completed accurately and on time.\nOwn federal, state, and local tax compliance, reporting, filings, and payments, coordinating with external tax advisors and other partners as appropriate.\nOwn finance-related legal entity compliance, registrations, annual reports, 1099 reporting, and other recurring federal and state requirements.\nMaintain a comprehensive compliance calendar to ensure required tax, financial, regulatory, and entity filings and payments are completed accurately and on time.\nOwn annual audit and external financial reporting processes and maintain year-round audit readiness.\nServe as the primary Finance point of contact for auditors, tax advisors, payroll providers, and other external accounting partners.\nPartner on Value-Based Care and Business Performance\nYou will bring strong financial discipline to Greenbrook’s value-based care model and partner with leaders to improve business performance.\nOwn and improve financial processes related to risk contracts, including payer settlements, contestations, cost reallocations, stop-loss activity, and reserve fund reconciliations.\nPartner with Revenue Operations, Population Health, and clinical teams to ensure payer and financial data are complete, accurate, and appropriately reflected in the financial statements.\nPartner with the VP of Finance on budgeting, forecasting, budget-to-actual reporting, variance analysis, and financial planning.\nProvide financial and accounting insights that help leaders understand performance, manage spending, and improve financial accountability.\nSupport the financial evaluation of new clinics, markets, payer arrangements, health system partnerships, and confident operating decisions.\nAbout You\nYou bring:\n8-12 years of accounting and financial operations experience across corporate or multi-entity environments.\n3-5 years owning core accounting functions including close, financial reporting, audits, reconciliations, tax compliance, and financial controls.\nExperience managing outsourced finance partners such as bookkeeping, payroll, tax, benefits provider, or other accounting providers, while maintaining internal accountability for their work.\nStrong technical accounting skills with a track record of improving accuracy, efficiency, and operational rigor.\nExperience building and improving processes, systems, and controls in environments where things are evolving quickly.\nExperience with accounting systems and financial technology, including implementing, upgrading, or optimizing ERP and related finance tools.\nStrong attention to detail with the ability to balance precision with speed.\nClear communication skills and the ability to partner effectively across the organization with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.\nYou’ll stand out if you:\nAre a CPA or have equivalent public accounting and/or
