There are three core foundations to achieving this - generation, storage and transmission.\nWe were originally founded to develop an entirely new mechanical energy storage technology. We have proven it in the lab, and are now building our first scale prototypes.\nMore recently, we've been working on the other foundation that is ripe for innovation, transmission. The DC transmission grid is central to large-scale renewable energy deployment, and the technologies and operating principles will significantly differ from traditional AC systems.\nWhat You'll Do:\nDesign high-voltage AC/DC converters with custom topologies and control strategies.\n\nSimulate and validate designs using PLECS, LTspice, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar tools.\n\nBuild early-stage prototypes and test systems-own the bench as much as the whiteboard.\n\nWrite real-time embedded firmware for converter control (microcontrollers or DSPs).\n\nDesign and tune control loops, switching strategies, and fault-handling logic.\n\nSolve practical challenges in insulation, EMI, thermal management, and safety.\n\nWork at the intersection of hardware, firmware, and physics to create something truly original.\n\nWhat We're Looking For:\nDegree in Electrical Engineering or related field, with experience in both power and embedded systems.\n\nStrong foundation in circuit theory and converter-level design\n\nHands-on experience building and testing power electronics hardware.\n\nProficient in embedded C/C++ for control systems, ideally with real-time constraints.\n\nComfortable working in a fast-paced, low-structure R&D environment.\n\nMost importantly: a first-principles mindset and the drive to invent, not just optimize.\n\nWhy This Is Different\nThis isn’t iteration or integration-we’re developing a new power architecture from scratch.\n\nYou’ll be part of a small, deeply technical team where your decisions shape the product.\n\nWe care about real engineering-not just specs, but how and why things work.\n\nYou’ll build hardware that directly impacts the future of energy storage and grid resilience.\n\nCandidate Journey:\n1. Talent Screen - video call (30-45 minutes) - an introductory call with our talent consultant.\n2. Technical Interview - video call (60 minutes) - initial, technically focused interview with our founders.\n3. Onsite meeting (120 - 180 minutes) - in-person meeting with the team in Maidenhead.
