Part of the Global Business Unit Land and Air Systems (LAS) within Thales Group, Thales AMS (Airspace Mobility Solutions) is providing leading edge airspace control and security solutions for the commercial and defense sectors, as well as digital solutions for Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) and Digital Aviation. AMS is the global market leader in the space of Air

Traffic Management and one of the most credible players in the new UTM space. AMS address different markets of Air Traffic Control (ATC) solutions (mainly SW based).

ALES project is a groundbreaking agentic AI platform transforming Air Traffic Control (ATC) operations by autonomously generating, simulating, and analyzing ultra-realistic scenarios-enabling smarter decision-making for Verification & Validation (VnV), training, and strategic planning.

By combining Generative AI, vast flight datasets, and immersive 2D/3D visualization, ALES redefines airspace efficiency, safety, and controller preparedness. The platform seamlessly integrates with industry-standard systems, supports dynamic scenario adaptation (e.g., weather disruptions, traffic conflicts), and accelerates testing-reducing manual effort while ensuring

precision, scalability, and compliance.

At its core, ALES converts real-world data into high-fidelity simulations, empowering users to proactively optimize performance, mitigate risks, and innovate in an evolving ATC landscape.

Mission:

Develop and enhance the AI core of ALES platform that autonomously generates, simulates, and analyzes Air Traffic Control (ATC) scenarios-enabling data-driven decision-making for Verification & Validation (VnV), training, and operational planning.

What you’ll do:

• Architect agentic AI systems that self-generate realistic ATC scenarios from routine operations to edge cases reducing manual scenario design from days to minutes
• Turn raw data into actionable intelligence: Leverage 1M+ flight plans, weather patterns, and airspace constraints to create simulations that predict, adapt, and improve ATC decision-making
• Push the limits of Generative AI: Develop self-learning models that evolve with real-world operations, ensuring our platform stays ahead of emerging ATC challenges
• Bridge AI and aviation expertise: Collaborate with ATC veterans, data scientists, and engineers to translate operational needs into AI-driven solutions
• Deliver impact at scale: Your code will directly enhance airspace safety, controller training, and global ATC efficiency with measurable outcomes.

Required competencies:

• AI Fundamentals: Strong understanding of AI/ML principles, including Generative AI, agentic architectures, and
• autonomous decision-making systems.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to translate complex operational requirements (e.g., ATC constraints) into AI-driven solutions.
• Collaboration: Experience working with cross-functional teams (e.g., aviation experts, software engineers, data scientists).
• Agile Development: Familiarity with iterative development and continuous improvement in AI/software projects
• Knowledge of the following (or similar) tools: Jira, Confluence
• Ability to be innovative and curious in relation to new technologies and their application

Technical expertise:

Programming:

• Python (advanced proficiency for AI/ML and backend development)
• JavaScript (for frontend interactions and scripting)
• Kotlin (for specific backend/services integration)

AI/ML:

• Hands-on experience with agentic AI systems (e.g., multi-agent architectures, LangChain, or similar frameworks)
• Knowledge of Generative AI models (e.g., LLMs, prompt engineering, or fine-tuning)

DevOps & Deployment:

• Containerization: Proficiency with Docker (including multi-container setups and orchestration)
• CI/CD Pipelines: Experience with GitLab CI for production-grade deployment
• MCP Servers: Familiarity with management, configuration, and scaling of server environments

Databases:

• PostgreSQL (design, querying, and optimization)
• MinIO (or similar object storage solutions)

Testing:

• Pytest for unit testing (especially for UI/backend integration).

Frontend:

• React (for developing and maintaining user interfaces)

Nice to Have:

• ATC/Aviation Domain Knowledge: Understanding of air traffic control operations, scenario simulation, or ICAO standards.
