Thales OME designs a range of state-of-the-art solutions for some of the most technically advanced defence and security platforms in the world, and we’re seeking talented engineers who can apply their knowledge and skills in an electronics role.\nThis role is a development role, intended to give an engineer with some existing design experience the opportunity to build their technical skills, widen their exposure to different aspects of the design lifecycle, and learn about complex defence products in more detail. The role will cover all aspects of the product lifecycle, from concept studies, requirements, selection of technology, design and development, integration, validation and qualification.\nThere are positions available based at our sites in Glasgow and in Reading. While some of the role may be carried out from home, some attendance on site will be necessary for lab testing, system integration and some aspects of collaborative work.\nKey responsibilities of the role\nUndertake design of electronic circuit assemblies, from concept through design, test and system integration\nEngage with a multi-disciplinary team across the project (systems, mechanical, software, safety, etc) to develop an optimum solution\nWork collaboratively with the project team to ensure products meet all requirements\nContribute to the development of the wider electronics team, including proposing and implementing improvements, participating in peer reviews and sharing knowledge and good practice across the team\nGenerate design documentation such as specifications, test plans and design records\nPrepare for and participate in peer reviews and project design reviews\nReport progress of work against cost, schedule and performance\nAbout you\nWe are looking for an innovative and forward thinking individual with the following skills, experience and attributes:\nExperience of electronic/electrical design in a real-world environment (circuit simulation, block diagrams, drawing schematics, etc)\nUse of schematic capture packages (Cadence, Mentor Graphics or similar)\nPractical experience of lab work (eg. soldering, circuit testing, cable assembly, debug, etc)\nSome experience testing at circuit board and system level (eg. board bring-up and debug, EMC testing)\nGeneral understanding of engineering process and design lifecycles\nPersonal organisational and time-management skills\nCore Benefits:\nOn offer is a competitive salary and benefits package, which includes;\nPerformance-related bonus\nHalf day every Friday, usually finishing around 13:00\n28 days annual leave (plus bank holidays) plus opportunity to buy up to 40 hours/year (pro rata)\n24 hours volunteering paid for\nPrivate healthcare (grade dependent)\nPension scheme\nLife cover24/7 Employee Assistance Program and access to mental wellbeing app\nEmployee discount shopping schemes on major brands and retailers\nGym membership discounts\nYou can read about some of our other benefits here: UK benefits | Thales Group\nConnect with Fiona Tal, Talent Acquisition Partner #LI-FT1 who is eager to explore together with you this exciting opportunity.\nSecurity Clearance Requirement:\nDue to the nature of the work that we do at Thales, many of our roles are subject to security restrictions.
