As part of the UK Safety Team you will have the opportunity to lead safety engineering activities on these complex and challenging projects while continuing to develop your safety engineering knowledge.\nWe’re recruiting due to a need to grow our subject matter expert Safety Engineering team.\nWhat is a Product Safety Engineer? We’re looking for a Senior level Safety Engineer who has gained experience specifically with the development of product within safety critical settings. This means involvement in systems development, but also working to ensure the safety of the product in operation.\nJoining as a Product Safety Engineer in this team, you’ll gain experience across multiple niche areas during your time at Thales. You may begin life on a £300m+ programme, working directly with the UK MOD, next you might pivot and have instrumental involvement in Autonomous UAS development or perhaps our world-renowned Avionics or Simulation teams are more suited to your ambitions, there are opportunities to work on all the above in this team.\nSafety at Thales means joining an exceptionally skilled team within technical specialities, pursuing unique career paths spanning technical expertise, management and/or programmes. You’ll be supported with mentors, academic links, progression plans, contractual development and treated as a priority for all internal opportunities within the team.\nProduct Safety Engineers at Thales typically are involved with:\nDeveloping safety plans & ensuring the implementation at project level\nApplying and leveraging your knowledge of Systems Safety Engineering to complex systems and supporting/mentoring junior Product Safety / Systems Safety Engineers\nEnsuring that Thales products are supported by robust safety cases and evidence\nWorking in multidisciplinary project/product teams to identify and manage hazards and risks\nUndertaking Systems Safety activities and assessment\nWorking in multidisciplinary project/product teams to identify and manage hazards and risks\nWorking across a range of activities at various stages of the systems engineering lifecycle.\nWhat we need you to have to be successful in the role:\nExperience of Systems Safety/Product Safety/Safety Engineering activities in a complex, safety focused and regulated organisation, such as rail, aerospace, defence, medical, nuclear or oil & gas\nExperience of preparing Safety Cases and familiar with ALARP principles and arguments\nDemonstrable experience of undertaking Product Safety activities including System Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Event Tree Analysis (ETA), Common Cause Failure Analysis, Functional Failure Analysis (FFA), Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Interface Hazard Analysis (IHA), System Hazard Logs, System Hazard Analysis Reports\nAbility to work collaboratively in an engineering development environment, ensuring Systems Safety compliance is achieved throughout the project life cycle\nSecurity Clearance statement\nThis role will require SC Clearance. It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant will undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance.
