Our systems are developed for a wide range of significant defence projects, including the next generation of autonomous mine hunters, Conventional and hybrid mine hunters, the Astute class submarines, Merlin helicopters, Type 23 frigates etc. As a Thales Maritime Mission Systems software engineer, you will develop the next-generation Mission systems and Sonar technologies, for which we are world-renowned.\nYou will be a key member of the Software Development team based at the Thales site in Manchester, and will have the opportunity to collaborate with Thales sites in the UK and overseas.\nKey responsibilities will include the design, implementation and test of our SW solutions, using industry standard tools and methods.\nTechnical Skills\nYou will be required to provide evidence of activity that supports the desire to pursue a career in Software Engineering at Thales.\nEssential requirements\nUnderstanding of a solution development lifecycle for complex systems, with several years’ experience of SW development utilising an Agile methodology\nAbility to derive and manage SW Requirements\nAbility to Design a SW solution that meets the operational needs/requirements\nDemonstrable skills in SW development (Java/Python in a Linux environment)\nUse of industry standard tooling for SW Development (IDEs, Unit Test frameworks, Static analysis etc)\nA knowledge of Software Architectures and Design Patterns\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\nAn ability to work as a key member of the team\nA desire to take responsibility for your professional\nDesirable requirements:\nAwareness of network design and configuration.\nFamiliarity with containerisation/virtualisation, CI/CD.\nKnowledge and development of Linux services.\nExperience in Ansible or other provisioning tools.\nExperience in Defence or other Engineering Industries\nMinimum Educational Requirements\nDegree in a relevant subject e.g. Software Engineering, Computer Science, Maths, Physics or Engineering.\nJob Content\nDevelop software components (from detailed Design thru to Unit testing) to realise the vision of our Product Owners, following the SW architectures identified by our SW Architects.\nSupport the SW Integration activities and resolve bugs identified during verification.\n{THALES GROUP LIMITED DISTRIBUTION}\nThe information contained in this e-mail is confidential.
