Thales supports the security and stability of our nation by providing extraordinary technology to our customers, as well as delivering social value to the UK with our products and services.\nResponsibilities\nYou will:\nProvide technical leadership and ownership for a software design\nDevelop software primarily in C++ that follows software design and interface control descriptions/specifications and adheres to the software architectures written in UML\nWork collaboratively with other engineering functions to analyse solution/product level requirements and operational concepts, and contribute to a solution level architecture\nUnderstand and contribute to the development of software architectures that consider the constraints placed upon the system, write clear and concise software design definitions and record/capture design decisions/rationale\nContribute to the testing activity appropriate to the products\nProactively be part of an Agile team and contribute to Agile ceremonies\nSupport peer reviews of others work and generation of materials for major gate reviews\nProvide coaching and technical support to junior engineers\nRequirements\nWe would love to hear from you if meet the following:\nYou are a self-motivated software professional with 10+ years of experience\nDeveloped with C++ language (essential), as well as experience of working with RTOS/OS in a real-time embedded environment\nExperience of working with test frameworks (e.g. GoolgeTest, GoogleMock)\nExperience of working with static analysis tools (e.g. Klocwork, Coverity) and test coverage tools (e.g. Bullseye).\nHave some exposure to test automation/continuous build & integration\nExposure to Rhapsody (or similar tool) and UML is desirable but not essential\nExperience in requirements management (e.g. DOORS) is desirable\nDeveloping software systems to meet international safety systems such as IEC 61508 or DO-178C is desirable\nundefined\nYour Career at Thales\nThere is ample opportunity to develop your skills within Thales, developing from senior engineer, to senior technical roles (e.g. Software Architect or Technical Specialist) or management roles (Project Software Engineering Manager)\nTraining is provided through a mixture of mentoring, online and in-person courses. Thales actively encourages membership of professional organisations such as the IET, and will pay membership fees and support individuals to work towards Chartered status.\nSecurity Clearance Requirement:\nDue to the nature of the work that we do at Thales, many of our roles are subject to security restrictions. This role requires Security Clearance (SC). It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance prior to commencing employment.\nTo be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years.
