SfN’s annual meeting regularly attracts more than 30,000 attendees, representing 80 countries; 536 exhibiting companies; and close to 300 journalists.\nSfN exists to:\nAdvance scientific exchange;\nSupport the neuroscience community;\nEducate and engage the public; and\nAdvocate for the field.\nPosition Summary\nThe Marketing Operations Manager provides operational oversight and project management for activities that support, streamline, and advance the execution and completion of marketing and sales campaigns, promotional plans, and special projects serving the Society. The role coordinates departmental and cross-functional initiatives, ensuring activities, timelines, dependencies, and deliverables are effectively managed and tracked. Key areas of focus include initiatives tied to the Society’s membership, annual meetings, scientific publications, webinars, advertising, and sales functions.\nEssential Job Functions\nCoordinates and oversees marketing calendars, project schedules and timelines, and vendor lists utilized by the department.\nLeads marketing projects from planning through execution across email, direct mail, paid and trade advertising, websites, and social media. Defines scope, coordinates resources, establishes timelines and budgets, and tracks dependencies and deliverables to ensure timely completion and alignment with organizational goals.\nMaintains master advertising schedule across SfN digital properties and journals, and coordinates ad placement through SfN’s advertising platform.\nTracks and ensures departmental Purchase Requests, Purchase Orders, contracts and agreements, and invoices are completed and approved per organizational guidelines.\nCoordinates logistics for SfN booth presence at the Society's annual meeting and other organizations’ meetings that the Society may attend. Available to staff SfN’s annual meeting if/as needed. \nFulfills on-site advertising commitments for the Society’s annual meeting, including coordinating production and placement of sponsored items. \nObtains estimates and competitive bids for print jobs, promotional items, and other projects as needed based on the Society’s established processes and budgets.\nSupervisory Responsibilities\nManage a department of one or more people by hiring and developing talent, delegating effectively, communicating expectations clearly, and providing professional development opportunities.\nEducation and Experience\nBachelor’s degree required, master's degree a plus\n4+ years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, marketing operations, project or production management, or a related field\nDemonstrated experience independently managing complex, concurrent projects involving multiple stakeholders, dependencies, vendors, and deadlines\n1+ years of supervisory or formal team-lead experience, including responsibility for assigning work, managing performance, and supporting staff development\nExperience managing competitive bidding, vendor selection, contract fulfillment, and production budgets strongly preferred\nQualifications\nProficient in office automation (word processing, spreadsheet, database, project management software) and internet research skills, including ability to learn new software quickly\nExcellent project management, planning, and organizing skills\nStrong judgment and decision-making skills\nAbility to identify trends and opportunities, and develop data-informed recommendations to improve processes and support decision-making \nConscientious and highly detail-oriented, with eye for quality control, accuracy, consistency, and standards\nStrong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with ability to provide superior customer service to both internal and external stakeholders\nAbility to set and adjust priorities while balancing diverse perspectives and evolving needs\nAbility to be nimble and work in a team environment with fast turnarounds and tight deadlines\nKnowledge of direct mail and U.S. Postal regulations preferred\nLocation\nCurrently, SfN is able to offer positions to residents of the following states: AL, AR, AZ, CT, DC, DE, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WI, WV, WY.
