Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.\nThis role sits directly at the intersection of hardware and software, where embedded code not only runs systems, it moves steel, powers motors, reads real-world sensors, and controls massive tunneling machines operating in extreme environments. Everything we build is developed and manufactured entirely in the United States.\nIf you’re excited by low-level systems, real-world impact, and seeing your code control physical machines, this is a rare opportunity.\nResponsibilities\nWrite robust, production-grade C++ for embedded Linux systems that monitor and control tunneling and mining equipment.\nWork hands-on with real hardware: integrating sensors, power electronics, and control systems.\nDesign safety-critical software that operates reliably in harsh, industrial environments.\nDevelop and execute test suites for verification and validation of embedded systems.\nCollaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers to bring complex machines to life.\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.\nProfessional experience developing software with C/C++\nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.\nStrong collaborator with experience working across multiple engineering disciplines.\nExceptional attention to detail and system-level thinking.\nExperience with embedded software for industrial automation or mechatronic systems.\nExperience with embedded software in automotive systems.\nProficiency in Python.\nDeep expertise in modern C++.\nStrong working knowledge of Git.\nProficiency with Linux-based operating systems.\nExperience with sensor integration and DAQ optimization.\nCulture\nWe're a team of dedicated, smart, and scrappy people. Our employees are passionate about our mission and determined to innovate at every opportunity.\nBenefits\nWe offer employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan, paid holidays, paid vacation, and a competitive amount of equity for all permanent employees.\nThe Boring Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer; employment with The Boring Company is governed on the basis of merit, competence and qualifications and will not be influenced in any manner by race, color, religion, gender, national origin/ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, mental or physical disability or any other legally protected status.","description_format":"text","description_chars":2867,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Public Transport"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-25T20:10:51Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":5,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.182,"p_room":0.28,"age_days":1053,"expected_fill_days":84,"reasons":["conf:0","stale_co","ghost","win:tail","crowd:"],"computed_at":"2026-10-04T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/the-boring-company-embedded-software-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/the-boring-company-embedded-software-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-05T02:29:15Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":3386,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":1614,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-10-06T00:00:00Z"}}}
