Acts as the designer of complex major systems and their subsystems utilizing a thorough understanding of available technology, tools and existing designs. Provides comprehensive consultation to business unit and IT management and staff at the highest technical level on all phases of application programming and processes for diverse development platforms, computing environments (e.g., host based, distributed systems, client server, software, hardware, technologies and tools, etc.). Works closely with client and IT management and staff to identify application development solutions, new or modified programs, reuse of existing code through the use of program development software alternatives, or integration of purchased solutions or a combination of the available alternatives. Researches and evaluates alternative solutions and recommends the most efficient and cost effective application programming solution. May code new or modified programs, reuse existing code through the use of program development software alternatives and/or integrates purchased solutions. Documents, tests, implements and provides on-going support for the applications. Focuses on providing thought leadership and technical expertise across multiple disciplines. Recognized internally as “the go-to person” for the most complex Application Development assignments.\nAs a Senior Database Developer, you will play a key role in developing, maintaining, and optimizing our data integration solutions. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to technical design, and ensure the reliability and efficiency of our ETL processes and SQL Server environments.\nKey Responsibilities:\nMonitor, maintain, and enhance core ETL processes.\nTroubleshoot and resolve SQL Server-related issues.\nCollaborate with senior developers and business stakeholders to document requirements and design solutions.\nDevelop and optimize SSIS packages and T-SQL code, including stored procedures, views, and functions.\nModel and document SQL data mapping solutions, working with business and other technical teams to decide on the best solution.\nSupport regular releases and monitor data processing batches.\nProactively suggest improvements to code, tools, and processes.\nEssential Skills:\n4+ years of experience developing and supporting SQL Server solutions.\nStrong proficiency in T-SQL and relational database concepts.\nExperience with ETL processes, preferably using SSIS.\nKnowledge of OLAP and OLTP environments.\nSolid problem-solving skills and ability to reverse engineer code.\nExperience working in Agile development teams.\nDesirable:\nExperience with C#, VB.net, or other programming languages.\nFamiliarity with Python / PySpark.\nExperience with Git or other source control tools.\nKnowledge of SQL Change Automation or Liquibase is a plus.\nExposure to continuous integration/delivery practices (CI/CD).\nExperience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) or similar tools.\nExperience with SAFe or other Agile frameworks.\nPersonal Attributes:\nSelf-motivated and able to see projects through to completion.\nPassionate about technology and data-driven solutions.\nStrong communication and teamwork skills.\nCommitted to quality and governance standards.\nAbout Cigna Healthcare\nCigna Healthcare, a division of The Cigna Group, is an advocate for better health through every stage of life.
