The role ensures that innovation is not only visionary but also operationally sustainable, data-driven, and deeply embedded across the enterprise to advance Cigna’s mission of smarter, more connected care.\nResponsibilities\nArchitect and lead the creation of an AI-first technology platform that drives proactive, predictive, and continuous health management across the member journey -transforming engagement, outcomes, and efficiency at scale.\n\nServe as the technology lead for Clinical Innovation, aligning engineering, AI, and data capabilities with the Chief Medical Officer’s vision and the organization’s long-term health strategy.\n\nShape the technical strategy and architecture for an intelligent, extensible platform that integrates AI, automation, and clinical insights into every member interaction, from onboarding through long-term care and recovery.\n\nContinuously assess emerging technologies, market trends, and partner ecosystems to identify opportunities for differentiation, scalability, and clinical innovation. Drive the adoption of next-generation AI models, and interoperable frameworks that strengthen Cigna’s competitive edge.\n\nIntegrate with multi-source data - including EMR, HIE, claims, behavioral, , in collaboration with analytics, engineering, and clinical teams.\n\nDesign and deploy AI-driven solutions that deliver hyper-personalized health coaching, behavioral nudges, and digital interventions that enable early risk mitigation, lifestyle improvement, and clinical adherence.\n\nOperationalize AI-powered guided assistance and care coordination, ensuring timely access to appropriate care pathways, seamless transitions, and reduced fragmentation across the care continuum.\n\nIntegrate the AI platform across the enterprise ecosystem - connecting with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Health Information Exchanges (HIE), Campaign Management, Case Management, Administrative, and Contact Center systems, to deliver a seamless, unified experience for patients, providers, and care teams.\n\nEnsure technical rigor and operational excellence through adherence to AI governance, model transparency, clinical safety, security, and responsible-AI standards.\n\nDrive scalability, performance, and reliability across all AI-enabled workflows and services, ensuring production-grade resilience and continuous improvement of platform capabilities.\n\nEstablish a closed-loop intelligence framework that continuously monitors performance, measures intervention effectiveness, and refines models to optimize outcomes and member experiences.\n\nLead and mentor teams, fostering a culture of continuous innovation, inspiring teams to explore emerging technologies (generative AI, digital twins, multimodal data intelligence) and translate them into tangible business and clinical value.\n\nCollaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, data science, and clinical teams to operationalize innovation at scale and deliver measurable impact across the enterprise.\n\nQualifications\n10+ years of progressive experience in technology leadership roles, with at least 3+ years leading AI, driven product and platform development in healthcare\n\nProven track record of designing, deploying, and scaling AI-enabled platforms or products, including data integration, development, and operationalization in complex enterprise environments.\n\nDeep understanding of AI/ML methodologies, including Generative AI, Retrieval Augmented Generation, Agentic implementations and supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, natural language processing (NLP)\n\nStrong knowledge of Responsible AI, Safety and Governance\n\nAbility to translate complex AI concepts into actionable clinical, business, and operational outcomes, driving measurable value in quality, cost, and patient experience.\n\nExperience leading cross-functional teams in a matrixed, enterprise environment.\n\nProven ability to scan the market for emerging technologies, assess innovation potential, and establish partnerships with startups, academic labs, and AI research communities.\n\nString strategic communication, stakeholder influence with the ability to bridge technical depth and clinical insight.\n\nIf you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 196,800 - 328,000 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.\nThis role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus and long term incentive plan.\nAt The Cigna Group, you’ll enjoy a comprehensive range of benefits, with a focus on supporting your whole health.
