This role requires extensive hands-on RHEL experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to support complex distributed infrastructure across on-premises virtualization and AWS cloud environments.\nAbout The Clearing House: The Clearing House Payments Company L.L.C. is a bank-owned industry utility that shapes the payments landscape and provides infrastructure for safe, reliable, and efficient payments. The Clearing House operates four payment systems: a high-value wire-transfer system (the CHIPS® network), the country’s first and largest instant payments system (the RTP® network), an automated clearinghouse network (the EPN® network), and a check image exchange network (the Image Exchange Network). TCH also operates a bank account number tokenization service, runs a payments association known as the TCH Payments Authority, and maintains the rules for private-sector check image exchange through its ECCHO® business line.\nQualifications required:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.\nExtensive hands-on experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux in a large enterprise environment, including installation, configuration, upgrades, lifecycle management, troubleshooting, performance analysis, and production support.\nStrong understanding of cloud fundamentals, infrastructure provisioning, and enterprise cloud design patterns.\nExtensive experience with RHEL 8.x and 9.x on x86_64 platforms, including RHEL workloads hosted on VMware and AWS.\nStrong working knowledge of enterprise infrastructure dependencies, including SAN storage (Dell/EMC), TCP/IP networking, DNS, LDAP, Active Directory integration, and firewalls.\nWorking knowledge of enterprise backup and recovery technologies, including Dell PowerProtect Data Manager (PPDM).\nExperience provisioning, configuring, and supporting Linux virtual machines in VMware environments.\nWorking knowledge of Linux authentication and identity integration with LDAP and Active Directory, as well as enterprise DNS services.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to create clear technical documentation and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nAbility to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation and perform planned maintenance or incident response during nights, weekends, and other off-hours as required.\nDemonstrated ability to work professionally and collaboratively with infrastructure, application, security, architecture, operations, and other enterprise technology teams.\nQualifications desired:\nExperience supporting enterprise Linux workloads across VMware virtualization and AWS cloud environments.\nExperience with VMware infrastructure concepts, including virtual networking, VLANs, compute, storage, and virtual machine lifecycle management.\nDemonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex infrastructure and operating system issues using structured troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.\nExperience with AWS services and cloud-based Linux infrastructure is preferred.\nExperience with Linux automation and scripting, such as Bash, Python, Ansible, or comparable tools.\nExperience with enterprise monitoring, performance management, vulnerability management, configuration management, and security tooling.\nEssential functions and responsibilities:\nDesign, engineer, implement, and support enterprise Red Hat Enterprise Linux server platforms across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.\nEstablish, implement, and maintain enterprise Linux engineering standards, including server build processes, configuration baselines, hardening standards, supported package levels, firmware, drivers, and lifecycle requirements.\nCollaborate with Information Security and Architecture teams to implement, validate, and maintain RHEL security hardening standards and configuration baselines.\nIntegrate RHEL servers with enterprise infrastructure management and security platforms, including monitoring, endpoint security/anti-malware, file integrity monitoring, vulnerability management, backup, logging, and configuration management tools.\nValidate, test, deploy, and troubleshoot RHEL security patches and operating system updates in accordance with enterprise patching, change management, and vulnerability remediation requirements.\nEvaluate and test upgrades to operating systems, packages, drivers, firmware, microcode, and other server components before production implementation.\nImplement and validate Linux security configurations to meet enterprise security, regulatory, and audit requirements. Experience supporting environments governed by standards such as PCI DSS, ISO, or comparable control frameworks is preferred.\nPartner with Operations, Architecture, Security, application teams, and other infrastructure teams to maintain the current environment and design future-state Linux platforms and services.\nParticipate in scheduled on-call coverage and provide after-hours support for production incidents, maintenance, upgrades, and critical infrastructure activities.\nSuccess factors/job competencies:\nDemonstrates advanced proficiency with enterprise Linux technologies and the supporting infrastructure platforms used by the organization.\nWorks independently, takes ownership of technical issues, and drives problems through resolution.\nCollaborates effectively and respectfully across technical teams and business functions.\nAdapts quickly to new technologies, automation approaches, architecture patterns, and operational requirements.\nCommunicates status, risks, technical issues, and escalation needs clearly and in a timely manner.\nPhysical Demands and Work Environment: The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. Travel may be required. Candidates will report to the office three days each week.
