As a member of the team, you will be responsible for developing and enhancing our critical real-time interbank payment platform, including development of new applications and features while improving the functionality, reliability, and performance of existing applications. The Software Engineer works directly with RTP Product teams and the Director of Product Engineering to ensure quality code deliverables are completed on time and in accordance with TCH Standards. The Software Engineer also works closely with Operations and Technology to define and implement new features and ensure system resiliency.\nThis is an opportunity to develop advanced software engineering skills while working on complex, high-value systems that form part of the financial services infrastructure. You will work alongside experienced engineers to develop, test, enhance, and support highly reliable applications for the payments industry while using AI-assisted automation and engineering practices within the software development lifecycle.\nTCH values engineers who are technically curious, pragmatic, and interested in understanding how complex systems work, end to end. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on software engineer who has a solid foundation in Java development, some exposure to Python, and a strong interest in building industry-critical applications using cloud, container, automation, and distributed-system technologies.\nEssential functions and responsibilities:\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain highly reliable software supporting real-time payment processing\nWrite clean and maintainable Java code compliant with TCH quality standards and secure coding practices\nDevelop software components leveraging enterprise Java frameworks such as Spring and Spring Boot\nDevelop Python scripts and programs as needed for data automation and integration services\nParticipate in the modernization of existing applications and migration toward cloud-native platforms\nDevelop and maintain services, APIs, application components, and automated tests\nParticipate in code reviews, technical discussions, troubleshooting, and engineering design activities\nApply CI/CD practices for automated building, testing, and deployment of high-quality software\nWork with containerized applications and Kubernetes-based environments for component-based releases\nBuild applications on AWS cloud platforms using Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform\nWork with messaging and event-driven technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ where appropriate\nAssist with monitoring, troubleshooting, defect resolution, and root-cause analysis\nFollow established security, software development, testing, documentation, and change management practices\nCollaborate with software engineers, architects, product teams, infrastructure teams, and operations\nUse approved AI-assisted development tools to support coding, testing, documentation, and continuous quality improvements in accordance with enterprise controls\nundefined\nQualifications required:\nBachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or related fields\nSolid understanding of core software engineering concepts including object-oriented and functional programming, data structures, APIs, automated testing, and source code control.\n3+ years in Java software development experience including analysis, design, development, documentation, implementation and testing of systems\nExperience developing Python scripts and programs for data management and analysis\nExposure to working in AWS or another major public cloud provider and familiar with cloud-native application architectures, microservices, containers, and distributed systems\nSolid understanding of CI/CD and automated software build/deployment processes\nStrong problem-solving and analytical skills to apply to software design, testing, and troubleshooting\nStrong interest in designing and building highly available and highly reliable systems\nAbility and willingness to learn new technologies and work collaboratively within an engineering team.\nAbility to communicate clearly with technical teams and non-technical partners\nCollaborative team player that connects with peers and across other teams\nundefined\nQualifications desired:\nFamiliarity with enterprise Java frameworks such as Spring and Spring Boot\nExperience with Git-based development, automated testing, and CI/CD tooling\nExposure to Docker, containers, and/or Kubernetes for application deployment\nExposure to AWS cloud services, including developer training and certifications\nExperience using agile development methodologies and tools such as Jira\nExperience with Infrastructure-as-Code concepts and development tools such as Terraform\nExposure to event-driven designs or messaging platforms, such as Kafka or RabbitMQ\nInterest in financial technology, banking, payments, or transaction-processing systems\nBehavioral & Leadership Competencies:\nPossesses and applies broad knowledge of concepts, exhibiting technical expertise in core subject areas\nDemonstrates commitment to excellence, anticipates needs, mitigates risks and minimizes challenges\nEffectively engages teammates and internal/external partners through a customer focused approach\nWorks well independently with minimal instruction/guidance, confident to escalate issues appropriately\nSets priorities and handles multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment\nRecommends innovative solutions aligned with organizational initiatives and recognized problem areas\nPhysical demands and work environment:\nAbility to remain seated for long periods of time while working on computer or editing.\nAbility to work under highly stressful deadlines.\nAbility to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.\nAbility to prioritize appropriately\nAbility to sit and review information on a computer screen for long periods of time\nAbility to report to the office three days each week.
