This role ensures that all fabric-related items within the hotel meet the highest standards of presentation and durability.\nDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:\nPerform sewing, alterations, and repairs on hotel linens, staff uniforms, and guest clothing.\n\nMeasure, fit, and tailor uniforms for hotel employees to ensure a professional appearance.\n\nMend tears, replace zippers, adjust hemlines, and perform other garment modifications.\n\nOperate and maintain sewing machines, irons, and related tailoring equipment.\n\nMaintain an inventory of sewing materials, including thread, buttons, zippers, and fabrics.\n\nEnsure proper labeling, organization, and storage of garments.\n\nCoordinate with the valet/laundry department to prioritize workload and urgent requests.\n\nProvide minor repairs for hotel drapes and decorative fabrics as needed.\n\nHandle guest alteration requests professionally and in a timely manner.\n\nMaintain cleanliness and organization in the sewing work area.\n\nAssist guests with mending requests as needed.\n\nSupport the laundry team by assisting with the cleaning and pressing of uniform garments.\n\nFollow hotel/company emergency procedures and assist in emergency situations when required.\n\nREQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:\nMinimum of 2 years of experience as a seamstress or tailor.\n\nFormal training in tailoring, fashion design, or a related field is a plus.\n\nPrevious experience in a hotel, laundry service, or fashion industry is an advantage.\n\nProven experience as a seamstress, tailor, or in a similar role.\n\nProficiency in sewing, hemming, and garment alterations.\n\nKnowledge of various fabrics and appropriate care techniques.\n\nAbility to operate industrial sewing machines and related equipment.\n\nStrong attention to detail and craftsmanship.\n\nExcellent organizational and time-management skills.\n\nGood communication and customer service skills.\n\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a colleague to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:\nMust be able to lift equipment, supplies, etc. of at least 30 pounds.\n\nMust be able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure.\n\nThe role may require extended periods of time on your feet, especially during peak hotel hours or events.\n\nClear vision is important for reading reports, analyzing data, and overseeing Concierge activities.\n\nGood hearing is necessary for effective communication with colleagues, guests, and stakeholders.\n\nReasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.\n_______________________________________________________________________________\nBHC is an equal employment opportunity employer.
