If you’re energized by cutting-edge technology, Gen-AI, advanced digital products, APIs, microservices, micro-frontends, and cloud-first strategies - this role is for you.\nThis role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).\nWhat you’ll do (day to day)\nEstablish and drive clear, effective, and innovative solution designs aligning to The Hartford’s reference architectures, blueprints, and business and IT strategies, with a focus on AI and strategic thinking.\nTranslate strategy into end-to-end solution designs spanning APIs, microservices, micro-frontends and Single Page Apps, agentic AI, data, and cloud infrastructure.\nProduce option analyses and decision records balancing strategic alignment, security, reliability, complexity, automation and cost.\nDesign solutions leveraging SaaS and Native Cloud architectures and services, focusing on rationalizing and modernizing assets.\nAdvance digital identity and zero-trust patterns across experiences; ensure alignment with enterprise security standards.\nPartner with value streams on roadmaps and Program Increments; ensure designs meet non-functional expectations and are operable.\nEvaluate and land emerging Technologies where it demonstrably improves outcomes.\nAlign to architecture governance: reviews, permits to build, conformance checks, and pragmatic exceptions when warranted.\nQualifications:\n5 -8 years of experience in solution architecture, application architecture, or senior engineering roles within a large-scale enterprise environment.\nDemonstrated impact designing cloud-native solutions (AWS/GCP), APIs and integration patterns including: Microservices and service-oriented architectures\nEvent driven and RESTful API based integration patterns\n\nHands-on experience applying GenAI/ML to production use cases; familiarity with agentic architectures, RAG, semantic search, embedding models and LLMs.\nExpertise with digital identity/CIAM and modern auth (OIDC/OAuth2) and aligning to enterprise security standards.\nExperience developing or designing single-page applications utilizing contemporary frameworks such as Angular/React.\nExperience designing and implementing cloud-based solutions utilizing Microservices or API-based integrations with a clear understanding of JSON, REST, and HTTP standards.\nClear understanding of cloud, hybrid cloud, and container deployment architectures including building cloud-ready applications and container orchestration systems.\nFluency in platform and product thinking, solution KPIs, reliability engineering, and cost management.\nStrong written, verbal, and influence skills-comfortable engaging senior leaders and mentoring engineers across a matrixed org.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent practical experience; relevant cloud/architecture certs a plus.\nInsurance industry experience. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.\nCompensation\nThe listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
