If you’re energized by cutting-edge technology Gen-AI, advanced digital products, APIs, Microservices, Micro Frontends, Cloud-first strategies, SaaS solutions, and more-this is your moment to shine among the best.\nWhat you’ll do (day to day)\nEstablish and drive clear, effective, and innovative solution designs aligning to The Hartford’s reference architectures, blueprints, and business and IT strategies across our Digital properties, with a focus on AI and strategic thinking.\n\nTranslate strategy into end-to-end solution designs spanning mobile, responsive web, APIs, microservices/micro-frontends, data, and cloud infrastructure.\n\nProduce option analyses and decision records balancing strategic alignment, security, reliability, complexity, and cost.\n\nDesign solutions leveraging SaaS and Native Cloud architectures and services, focusing on rationalizing and modernizing assets.\n\nAdvance digital identity and zero-trust patterns across experiences; ensure alignment with enterprise security standards.\n\nPartner with value streams on roadmaps and increments; ensure designs meet non-functional expectations and are operable (telemetry, SLOs, runbooks).\n\nEvaluate and land emerging Technologies where it demonstrably improves outcomes.\n\nAlign to architecture governance: reviews, permits to build, conformance checks, and pragmatic exceptions when warranted.\n\nThis role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, or Hartford, CT) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).\nWhat you’ll do (day to day)\nEstablish and drive clear, effective, and innovative solution designs aligning to The Hartford’s reference architectures, blueprints, and business and IT strategies across our Digital properties, with a focus on AI and strategic thinking.\n\nTranslate strategy into end-to-end solution designs spanning mobile, responsive web, APIs, microservices/micro-frontends, data, and cloud infrastructure.\n\nProduce option analyses and decision records balancing strategic alignment, security, reliability, complexity, and cost.\n\nDesign solutions leveraging SaaS and Native Cloud architectures and services, focusing on rationalizing and modernizing assets.\n\nAdvance digital identity and zero-trust patterns across experiences; ensure alignment with enterprise security standards.\n\nPartner with value streams on roadmaps and increments; ensure designs meet non-functional expectations and are operable (telemetry, SLOs, runbooks).\n\nEvaluate and land emerging Technologies where it demonstrably improves outcomes.\n\nAlign to architecture governance: reviews, permits to build, conformance checks, and pragmatic exceptions when warranted.\n\nQualifications:\n5+ years of experience in Solution Architecture, Application Architecture, or Senior Software Engineering within a large enterprise environment.\n\nExperience in the Small Commercial Insurance industry.\n\nProven success designing and delivering cloud-based solutions in AWS and/or Google Cloud.\n\nExperience with:\nMicroservices and service-oriented architectures\n\nAPI and event-driven integrations (REST, SOAP)\n\nHands-on experience with Generative AI and Machine Learning, including:\nLarge Language Models (LLMs)\n\nRetrieval Augmented Generation (RAG)\n\nSemantic Search\n\nEmbedding Models\n\nAgentic AI architectures\n\nKnowledge of Customer Identity & Access Management (CIAM) and modern authentication standards (OAuth2, OIDC).\n\nExperience building modern web applications using Angular, React, or similar frameworks.\n\nStrong understanding of:\nAPIs, REST, JSON, and HTTP standards\n\nCloud and hybrid-cloud environments\n\nContainerized applications and orchestration platforms\n\nExperience applying product thinking, measuring success through KPIs, and balancing reliability, scalability, and cost.\n\nStrong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and mentor technical teams.\n\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.\n\nCloud and Architecture certifications are a plus.\n\nCandidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.\nCompensation\nThe listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
