The intern will contribute to real-world projects that enhance efficiency, drive digital innovation, and support Envita's sustainability mission. The intern will gain valuable experience by exploring complex, real-world production data to analyzing trends, building and maintaining models, assessing data quality, identify gaps, and more. The ideal candidate will take initiative in these ventures, ask good questions, practice critical thinking, and be able to work with colleagues on other teams.\nEssential Functions\nEnsures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner.\nData Analysis & Preparation: Collect, clean, transform, and analyze structured and unstructured datasets to support AI and automation initiatives.\nProduct exploratory data analysis, deliver trends and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.\nML Applications: Fine-tune and evaluate machine learning models for tasks such as classification, regression, forecasting, and anomaly detection.\nPrototyping Solutions: Deliver proof-of-concept models and automation workflows that demonstrate measurable value.\nCross-Team Collaboration: Partner with technology and business transformation teams to contribute to and understand end-to-end data lifecycle.\nContinuous Research: Stay current on AI/ ML trends; recommend tools and methods that could benefit Envita’s operations.\nGain practical experience in AI - from data analysis to workflow deployment.\nApply Data Science in real-world business contexts, including sustainability and operational efficiency.\nCollaborate with product, strategy, and technology leaders on high-impact digital initiatives.\nAdditional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company’s core values, competencies, and skills.\nEducation Qualifications\nRequired High School or Equivalent.\nPreferred Bachelor's Degree and open to college sophomore, junior, senior, recent grad, or 1st or 2nd master’s student majoring in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, Statistics/Mathematics, or a related field in progress.\n Experience Qualifications\nCoursework, projects, and/or internships specializing in Computer Science, Mathematics, Machine Learning or AI preferred.\nFamiliarization with data manipulation and visualization tools, including but not limited to numpy, pandas, seaborn, and plotly.\nAcademic, internship, or project-based experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g. scikit-learn, scipy, TensorFlow, PyTorch).\nExperience using generative AI models and prompt engineering techniques is a plus.\n Skills and Abilities\nWorking knowledge of SQL and comfort working with messy, real-world data.\nProficiency in Python, R, or equivalent for both ML and Data Analysis scripting.\nStrong understanding of AI/ML concepts and practical application in business contexts.\nStrong problem-solving skills to bridge technical models with business needs.\nEffective communicator, able to explain technical solutions to non-technical audiences.\nCode versioning, using Git/Github, SVN, or equivalent, is a plus.\nCode containerization (Docker) is a plus.\nWorking Conditions/Physical Demands\nMust be able to make in office commute.\nInternships at The Heritage Group\nThe Heritage Group Internship Program provides hands-on, paid experiences in a corporate function or within one of our many operating companies.
