Supported by strategic grantmaking, product donations, cross brand collaboration, and strong employee volunteerism, Hershey offers a place to work where making a difference-locally and globally-is part of how we do business every day.\nHow will you fit in the big picture?\nThe Hershey Company Reese plant is a Non-Union plant producing products such as Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups & Kit Kat, in a high-speed complex environment.\nThe primary role and responsibility of the Sr Controls Engineer (3rd Shift) is to provide technical support ensuring production lines and plant processes are operational. This is achieved through technical expertise related to troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining process instrumentation, PLC’s, control systems and computers. Expertise with installation, maintenance, and repair of plant electrical systems including equipment troubleshooting, power distribution, motor control, and network/data security also required.\nThis person will also coordinate activities with internal disciplines and external contractors for the completion and start-up of non-routine PMs and capital projects. They must ensure that all work is performed in accordance with established guidelines and regulations for safety, GMP’s and sanitation, including conformance to Federal, State and local Electrical Codes.\nThe Sr Controls Engineer (3rd Shift) will assist Reese Engineering & Safety with equipment inspections to ensure proper labeling and functioning of safety equipment and protective gear, verifying compliance with relevant regulations and taking corrective action as required.\nWhat will you do?\nProvide 2nd level technical support to plant electricians and technicians related to any production issues or downtime. \nTroubleshoot, diagnose, and repair plant controls systems, PLC’s, motion controllers, HMI’s, electrical systems and networks. \nRead and interpret drawings, diagrams, manuals, schematics, and blueprints to maintain and improve equipment uptime. \nSetup, configure, program, and improve PLC programs. \nManaging non-routine PM work and work associated with capital projects, by directing the activities of outside contractors and plant electricians, obtaining quotes and purchase parts as required, and ensuring that all associated electrical drawings are accurate and updated accordingly. \nAssist with power distribution switchgear maintenance and switching. \nParticipate in the maintenance and upkeep of the Process Control Network security procedures and policies. \nAssist with electrical safety and machine guarding, ensuring compliance with corporate and governmental regulations. \nDevelop and provide technical training to Technical Assurance personnel. \nMinimum Requirements\nExperience with processing and packaging equipment, controls systems, instrumentation, and computers \nAbility to plan and execute multiple priorities with minimal direction and supervision. \nAbility to troubleshoot, modify and improve PLC and motion control programs \nAbility to design and troubleshoot control circuits and ladder logic \nKnowledge of DC, servo and variable frequency motors and drives \nKnowledge of ControlNet, DeviceNet, DH+, Remote IO, PROFIBUS and Ethernet networks \nKnowledge of NFPA 70E and other government electrical regulations. \nUnderstanding of local area networks, subnetting and routing \nKnowledge of electrical power distribution including panelboards, motor control centers, bus ways, and substations \nUnderstanding of project management tools and requirements such as purchase requisitions, contractor time monitoring, and project timelines \nAbility to effectively coordinate the activities of contractors, vendors, and plant electricians, and communicate technical data to non-technical personnel. \nFlexibility to work as required in evenings, weekends, and during plant shutdowns. \nMinimum Education & Requirements\nExperience: 3+ years\nEducation: Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics or a related technical degree preferred\nThe Hershey Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
