The Controller is responsible for maintaining a sound controls environment that complies with the Company’s internal accounting policies as well as coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements. This role is a critical part of leading and developing direct reports by managing performance that includes setting KPI goals, and by practicing the disciplines and elements of story and maintaining strong associate relationships.\nEssential Functions\nAs the Controller, you will play a critical role in overseeing the financial operations of the company. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of financial reporting, including the preparation of consolidated financial statements, overseeing audits, and ensuring internal controls & compliance with GAAP.\nGeneral Accounting Management\nPlanning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions for multiple entities and business lines.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams and leadership to provide financial insights and analysis for decision-making purposes.\nOversee a team responsible for property and CAM accounting, including lease administration, rent roll management, and reconciliation of tenant accounts.\nManage a growing team of financial professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.\nAssessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes and/or optimizing financial systems.\nComplete special projects as required to include all associated functions (standard general ledger accounting, research on accounting treatments, process development).\nDeveloping and monitoring business performance metrics aligned with organizational and departmental objectives and goals.\nFinancial Reporting and Controls\nManaging the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results.\nPrepare consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP and ensure their accuracy and completeness.\nCoordinate and prepare all internal and external financial reporting statements and related materials.\nDevelop and implement effective internal controls and processes to ensure compliance with accounting policies, regulations, and industry best practices.\nThird Party Coordination and Oversight\nCoordinate and oversee the annual audit process, working closely with external auditors.\nOverseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance.\nRequired Education and Experience\n4-year accounting degree required; CPA strongly desired; Knowledge of GAAP and tax accounting; Knowledge of accounting systems and how they are integrated within a company’s accounting structures; Knowledge of financial reporting processes and experience in preparing consolidated financial statements; Intermediate Excel Level; Ability to interact professionally with others; Strong analytical skills; Minimum of 7 years experience in public accounting and/or industry specific; Experience in accounting for multiple companies/lines of business preferred.
