This position provides scientific expertise, technical leadership, and operational support for advanced in vivometabolic phenotyping technologies and services that enable cutting-edgebiomedical research across diverse scientific programs, including obesity, diabetes, MASH,atherosclerosisand muscle biology.The Scientist will partner with investigators, research staff, and cross-functional teams to develop, optimize, and implement scientific solutions that support internal and external research initiatives. This individual will leveragetechnical expertiseto evaluate emerging technologies, troubleshoot complex scientific challenges, ensure quality standards, and deliver exceptional scientific serviceto a broad research community.\nThe ideal candidate is an independent scientist with strong technical proficiency, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for enabling scientific discovery through shared resources and innovative technologies.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, optimize, and execute in vivometabolic phenotyping workflows, assays, and methodologies that support core service operations and research objectives.\n\nAnalyze, interpret, and communicate experimental data and results to diverse scientific audiences.\n\nEvaluate, implement, and validatenew technologies, equipment, and workflows to enhance service capabilities and operational efficiency.\n\nDevelop and maintainstandard operating procedures (SOPs), quality control processes, and best practices to ensure data integrity and reproducibility.\n\nTroubleshoot complex technical and scientific issues and identifyinnovative solutions to improve performance and outcomes.\n\nCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support research initiatives, grant applications, publications, and strategic projects.\n\nTrain, mentor, and providetechnical guidance to research staff, students, and laboratory personnel.\n\nContribute to the strategic growth and continuous improvement of core scientific services through process optimization and adoption of emerging technologies.\n\nMaintain compliance with institutional, regulatory, and safety requirements.\n\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nDemonstrated expertisein one or more of the following areas: obesity, metabolic disease (including type-2 diabetes, MASH, atherosclerosis), aging, skeletal muscle biology, or islet (β-cell) biology.\n\nExpertisein preclinical pharmacology, including in vivoefficacy, execution, analysis, and interpretation.\n\nProficiency with indirect calorimetry / metabolic cage systems (e.g., Sable Systems Promethion, or equivalent), Body compositionanalysis using EchoMRI, DEXA, and/or microCT, core metabolic phenotyping assays, including glucose tolerance tests (GTT), insulin tolerance tests (ITT), and mixed-meal tolerance tests (MMTT), treadmill-based endurance capacity testing.\n\nHyperinsulinemic-euglycemic and hyperglycemicclamp techniques.\n\nMuscle biology experience is a strong plus.\n\nDesirable:\nSurgical proficiencyin transplantation techniques, including grafting under the kidney capsule\n\nMinimum Qualifications\nMaster’s degree in biology, Biomedical Sciences, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, or a related scientific discipline required; Ph.D. preferred.\n\nFour (4) or more years of relevant scientific experience supporting research programs, scientific services, core facilities, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, academic, or contract research environments.\n\nExperience with advanced laboratory technologies, instrumentation, and scientific data analysis.\n\nTrack recordof scientific achievement demonstratedthrough research contributions, publications, presentations, technology implementation, or project leadership preferred.\n\nWhy Join Us\nAs part of Core Scientific Services, you will play a vital role in advancing research across multiple scientific disciplines while working with state-of-the-arttechnologies and a collaborative community of scientists.
