This role is responsible for preparing beverages with consistency and care, serving members and guests with genuine hospitality, and keeping our coffee bar clean, stocked, and welcoming. As a visible member of the team, the Barista plays an important part in the member experience, often as the first friendly face someone sees each morning.\nThe ideal candidate is personable, detail-oriented, and eager to learn, with a strong sense of urgency and a genuine passion for coffee and hospitality. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in beverage and hospitality within a new and growing concept.\nKey Responsibilities\nBeverage Preparation\nPrepare espresso drinks, brewed coffee, tea, and other beverages to The June’s recipes and standards, with consistent quality and presentation.\nDial in and calibrate grinders and espresso machines, adjusting for freshness, humidity, and taste throughout service.\nSteam and pour milk and milk alternatives with proper technique, and prepare latte art where appropriate.\nLearn the coffee and tea program thoroughly, including origins, flavor profiles, and brewing methods, and describe offerings with confidence.\nPrepare and plate pastries and light food items as assigned, following food safety and presentation standards.\nMember & Guest Service\nGreet every member and guest warmly, learn and use names, and note preferences so that no member has to introduce themselves twice.\nTake orders accurately, move through busy periods efficiently, and keep lines and pickup moving with a calm, friendly presence.\nMake thoughtful recommendations, and handle special requests and concerns with grace, involving a manager when appropriate.\nTake allergy and dietary needs seriously: communicate them clearly, use clean tools, and never guess.\nSupport service for private events, meetings, and special programming as assigned.\nSetup, Cleanliness & Sanitation\nComplete opening and closing duties, including machine setup and breakdown, restocking milk, syrups, and supplies, and preparing the coffee bar for the next service.\nClean and maintain espresso machines, grinders, steam wands, brewers, and equipment on a daily and scheduled basis.\nKeep the coffee bar, counters, and seating areas clean, organized, and presentable throughout service.\nFollow all food safety, sanitation, and safety procedures, including proper handling, labeling, dating, and storage.\nMonitor par levels, assist with receiving and rotating stock, and communicate supply needs to a manager.\nTeamwork & Professionalism\nUse the point-of-sale system accurately, and handle cash and payments according to Company procedures.\nWork collaboratively with servers, bartenders, kitchen team members, and fellow baristas to keep service moving.\nReceive feedback constructively and look for opportunities to learn and grow within the beverage program.\nContribute to a culture of accountability, respect, and high standards across The June.\nQualifications\nPrevious experience as a barista or in a similar coffee or hospitality role preferred, though we are happy to train the right person.\nWorking knowledge of espresso, milk steaming, and coffee brewing methods, and a desire to keep learning.\nStrong attention to detail and a commitment to consistency, cleanliness, and quality.\nWarm, composed communication skills with members, guests, and teammates.\nComfort with point-of-sale systems and handling cash and payments accurately.\nReliable, punctual, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.\nAbility to lift up to 40 lbs (milk, supplies, and equipment) and stand for extended periods throughout a shift.\nCurrent food safety certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).\nFlexible availability, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.\nA proactive, team-first mindset and willingness to jump in wherever support is needed.\nNice to Have\nExperience in a specialty coffee shop, café, hotel, or private club.\nLatte art skills and knowledge of single-origin coffees and brewing methods.\nBarista or specialty coffee training or certifications.\nInterest in growing into a lead barista, beverage, or front-of-house role.\nExperience supporting a restaurant or café opening or pre-opening training program.\nAt The June, great hospitality starts with the first cup.
