This position is responsible for supporting the design and coordination of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for commercial and government design-build projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical professional looking to grow into a future Mechanical Design Manager role within a collaborative, nationwide design-build firm.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\nLead the design and coordination of mechanical systems for commercial and government construction projects from concept through construction.\nDevelop mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and telecommunications designs for commercial construction projects.\nPrepare construction documents using Revit, Bluebeam, and other required design software.\nCoordinate mechanical and plumbing systems with architectural and structural disciplines to ensure cohesive project delivery.\nPerform engineering calculations, equipment selections, and system layouts.\nReview project specifications, building codes, and applicable industry standards to ensure compliance.\nAssist with design development from conceptual planning through construction documents.\nSupport preconstruction efforts by providing design input, value engineering, and constructability reviews.\nCoordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, superintendents, subcontractors, and clients throughout the project lifecycle.\nRespond to RFIs, review submittals, and provide technical support during construction.\nAssist in maintaining project schedules and deliverables.\nMentor and provide technical guidance to Mechanical Design Engineers.\nSupport business development and proposal efforts by providing technical expertise during project pursuits.\nStay current on industry trends, building codes, and emerging technologies.\n\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS\nThe characteristics listed below are representative of those sought to perform this job successfully.\nStrong understanding of MEP building systems and commercial construction practices.\nWorking knowledge of applicable building codes and industry standards.\nAbility to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.\nStrong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nExperience with Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office; familiarity with BIM workflows is preferred.\nAbility to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary design-build environment.\nWillingness to travel to project sites as needed.\nValid driver's license.\n\nEDUCATION + EXPERIENCE\nQualified applicants will have:\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural, or related Engineering field.\nRegistered Professional Engineer (PE)\n5+ years’ experience designing mechanical and plumbing systems for commercial, industrial, healthcare, or government projects.\nExperience with Revit and BIM coordination required.\nDesign-build experience is preferred.\nGROWTH OPPORTUNITIES\nThis role is part of the Mechanical Management Career Path, and team members benefit from a structured Professional Development Plan (PDP) designed to support career growth.\nTypical growth opportunities along this path include:\nMechanical Design Manager → Director of Engineering\nABOUT THE KORTE COMPANY\nThe Korte Company was founded in 1958 on the belief that professionalism, quality and value added services are fundamental to a successful company.
