Makes adjustments and repairs to plumbing heating, air-conditioning, and electrical systems on hospital buildings and it's parcels without assistance.\nResponsibilities\nPRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(*Essential Functions)\nCleans hospital vehicles, drains sewers, boilers, pipes, air-conditioning units, electrical systems, and assists in moving heavy machines, furniture, and equipment.\nDeliver large tanks of various gases to Surgery, Central Service, and Laboratory, on an as needed basis, when advised by user department.\nInspects and tests electrical lighting, signal, and power circuits, and equipment.\nMaintains steps, entrances, sidewalks, driveways, and parking lots, keeping them free of snow and ice during winter months.\nObserves operating mechanical devices to diagnose problems, dismantles, repairs, replaces, lubricates and cleans parts.\nOperates hospital vehicles in a safe manner.\nPerforms boiler feed water tests using specific chemicals, daily tests and treats boiler water.\nRemoves water sample and applies chemical softeners as needed in the domestic water system.\nPerforms daily inspection of boilers, pipelines, and operating equipment.\nAdjusts valves and equipment controls to correct malfunctions.\nPerforms daily routine custodial duties in Plant Operations.\nRepairs and maintains piping systems and plumbing fixtures.\nRepairs autoclaves and other sterilizing equipment.\nResponds in a professional and orderly fashion to hospital emergencies.\nResponds to routine requisitions for service.\nReplaces worn and defective parts as directed by Plant Operations Supervisor.\nResponsible for routine oiling and greasing of moving mechanisms, cleans filters on air handling units, runs the emergency generators, checks fire safety systems, and inspects equipment as set forth in the preventative maintenance program.\nQualifications\nJOB SPECIFICATIONS(Minimum Requirements)KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES\nMust be able to pass mandatory fit test for breathing apparatus.\nMust have a valid driver license and pass insurance investigation.\nMust be able to speak, read, and write English.\nMust be able to hear audible sounds.\nAbility to follow detailed instructions.\nAbility to read and interpret blue prints related to mechanical systems.\nAbility to make adjustments and repairs using the knowledge of mechanical principles.\nTrade school in mechanical or electrical repairs a plus.\nEDUCATION\nHigh School Diploma/GED Equivalent Required\nExperience in power plant, building and equipment repairs in an industrial setting.\n5 Plant Operations and Repair Required\nSTANDARDS OF BEHAVIOR Meets the Standards of Behavior as outlined in Personnel Policy and Procedure #1, Employee Relations Code.CONFIDENTIALITY/HIPAA/CORPORATE COMPLIANCE Demonstrates knowledge of procedures for protecting and maintaining security, confidentiality and integrity of employee, patient, family, organizational and other medical information.
