The intern will assist the Accounting department with a wide-range of responsibilities during our program. This internship will appeal to proactive and self-motivated students with a genuine desire to learn about the real estate business and industry. During the internship, you will work on real projects and have real responsibilities! Michaels aims to help candidates build strengths, gain skills that can be transferred to any workplace, and stand out from the crowd!\nWork Schedule:\nMonday through Friday from 9 AM - 5 PM for a total of 35 hours\nBased out of our Camden, NJ headquarters (5x a week)\nHighlights of the internship include:\nWorking alongside other interns and recent college graduates\nLearning from our more experienced team members and best-in-class leaders in the real estate accounting community\nParticipating in company-wide and departmental meeting and events and a variety of social, professional and networking opportunities\nApplying accounting theory from college course-work to real-world transactions at a leading provider of real estate in Camden, NJ\nResponsibilities\nAssist with the preparation of federal and state tax returns and extensions for a variety of Partnerships, S corporations and C corporations\nGather data as needed to respond to notices\nAssist with K-1 preparation and distribution\nConduct tax research to apply relevant tax laws in jurisdictions where the company operates\nMaintain organized tax files and tracking of tax return due dates for over 400 entities\nPrepare elections as needed\nReview entity organization documents to determine filing requirements and set up initial tax returns for newly created entities\nAssist the finance department with posting journal entries and performing reconciliations on an as needed basis\nCLICK HERE to hear from last years' interns on their experiences!\nQualifications\nCandidates must possess strong written and verbal communication skills\nStrong mathematical and accounting skills are required\nThey should be professional, motivated, highly organized and able to work well alone or with a team\nThey should be able to follow instructions and be adept at general office skills such as typing and filing\nWorking knowledge of MS Excel and Word required\nKnowledge of Realpage & Lacerte tax software not required but useful\nSalary Range Information\nThe range displayed on each job posting reflects the targeted base salary for the position.
