This is a hands-on, field-focused role for an engineer who has commissioned and serviced hydraulic systems on-site - not a design-only background - and who's comfortable owning a system end-to-end with minimal oversight. Much of the facility's equipment is sourced from Europe and runs deeper, more complex hydraulic architecture than typical domestic mill equipment, so direct OEM experience with Rexroth, Parker, or a similar hydraulics platform is critical.\nKey Responsibilities\nTake full-cycle ownership of hydraulic systems across the facility: commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.\n\nManage spares and parts planning for hydraulic components.\n\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives on hydraulic systems and processes.\n\nSupport and service equipment sourced from Europe, which runs deeper/more complex hydraulic architecture than typical domestic mill equipment.\n\nWork independently in the field, troubleshooting and resolving hydraulic issues with minimal supervision.\n\nSplit time between hands-on floor work and office/administrative duties (spares planning, documentation), based on preference.\n\nPartner with the mechanical team and site leadership to keep hydraulic systems running reliably in support of broader plant reliability goals.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nField engineer background - hands-on experience commissioning and servicing hydraulic systems on-site, not design-only.\n\nDirect experience with Rexroth, Parker, or a similar hydraulics OEM/contractor.\n\nComfortable working independently and owning a hydraulic system end-to-end.\n\nAbility to read and interpret hydraulic schematics and equipment specifications.\n\nStrong troubleshooting and repair skills for hydraulic components and systems.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience supporting hydraulic equipment sourced from Europe or with more complex hydraulic architecture.\n\nSteel or heavy industrial manufacturing experience - not required; OEM/field service depth matters more than industry pedigree.\n\nSpares and parts planning experience for hydraulic components.\n\nWork Environment\nOn-site, day shift role at an active steel manufacturing facility in Apple Grove, WV - no night shifts required. Flexible split between plant-floor work and office/admin time based on candidate preference. Requires regular time on the plant floor, including exposure to heat, noise, and heavy machinery. Standard PPE required.
