The Christmas Kettle Coordinator position is a short-term contract position. The successful candidate is responsible for oversight of several Christmas Kettle locations in a given geographical zone area. Zone locations include shopping malls, grocery stores and retail outlets. They organize, direct, and supervise the work performed by Christmas Kettle Campaign Workers. They will also ensure adequate staffing is met prior to and during each shift.\nAccountabilities:\nIncumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties as below:\nAttend a day of training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign.\nProvide support in getting Kettles to zone locations prior to staff and/or volunteer’s arrival at Campaign onset.\nEnsure all Kettle donations are delivered to secure location at shift completion.\nCommunicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to the supervisor.\nOrient and remind staff/volunteers on proper Kettle handling and duties as required.\nSupervise, support and assign (as required) staff and/or volunteers throughout the Campaign.\nVisit locations during shift changes and intermittently.\nEnsure timesheets and mileage reports are submitted accurately and timely (weekly basis).\nRemain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations received.\nRespond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs.\nPromote, coordinate, and oversee the activities of Christmas Kettle Campaign Worker staff and/or volunteers.\nOversee the operations of the Christmas Kettle campaign including scheduling of staff and/or volunteers.\nWill participate in recruitment of kettle worker staff and/or volunteers.\nOrientation and performance management of kettle worker staff and/or volunteers.\nCoordinate the schedule for kettle staff and/or volunteers and respond to emergency absences, etc.\nFoster and maintain positive working relationships with kettle sites.\nCoordinate the delivery and pick-up of kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations; may deliver and pick-up kettles in an emergency situation.\nHost at a kettle as required ensuring necessary coverage for breaks, etc.\nEnsure that kettle locations have adequate supplies of literature etc.\nRecord statistical data and prepare weekly time sheets as required.\nPost campaign; organize retrieval of all equipment/supplies from various kettle locations.\nPerform other related duties as required.\nWORKING CONDITIONS:\nThis is a temporary full time position based on 40 hours per week.\nShifts may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break.\nFlexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per operational requirements.\nWork environment is typically in malls/stores\nStanding for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weather\nRequired to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.\nLocal travel is associated with this position.\nThe above responsibilities must be performed in keeping with The Salvation Army’s Mission, Vision, and Values, in a professional manner, upholding our code of conduct.\nEducation, Qualifications and Certifications:\nSome high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset.\nExperience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:\nA minimum of one year of related experience or working in customer service.\nMoney handling experience is an asset.\nExperience in office administration.\nExperience with general office equipment and must have strong skills and experience using word processing (WORD); spread sheet use (EXCEL).\nValid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License, personal vehicle required and insurance, current copy of driver’s abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.\nSkills and Capabilities:\nExcellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability.\nAbility to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced office setting; attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills.\nAbility to lift/move 9 to 12 kgs (20 - 25 lbs.) \nEnthusiastic Team Player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.\nStrong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities.\nExhibit good listening skills, have strong oral/written communication skills.\nWork in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.\nHonest, courteous, and punctual; prepared to act in the best interest of employer.\nRepresent the organization in a positive, professional, and engaging manner.\nAttentive listening skills for supervision, coaching, and conflict resolution.\nAbility to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donor, volunteer, and organizational information.\nAbility and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.\nAbility and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.\nCompensation:\nThe target hiring range for this position is $17.60 to $21.84 with a maximum of $26.20.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.\nThe Salvation Army will provide reasonable accommodation upon request.
