Otherwise, this role acts as a Sales Associate.\nACCOUNTABILITIES:\nThe incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties.\nInteract with customers/donors in a positive, friendly, and courteous manner.\nProtect the integrity of all donated items.\nResponsible for accurate completion of all customer transactions including cash and debit sales.\nContribute to meeting store budgets by maintaining customer service standards.\nOpening and closing of store following store procedures when required.\nProcess raw materials by loading/unloading, sorting, packing, pricing and storing donations.\nPossess knowledge of stock in order to respond to customer enquiries by phone/in person.\nPay particular attention to store security, by monitoring activity within the store.\nHandle the merchandise in a safe and organized manner; assist in stock rotation.\nContribute to the control of inventory by receiving, sorting, and pricing as per directions.\nAssist with store layout plans to attract customers, which include window displays and merchandise displays; ensures attractiveness of the store through “Tidy Maintenance:”.\nReplenish inventory levels based on supervisor’s directions.\nRemove inventory from sales floor as directed.\nMaintain the proper sorting and processing of all donated goods, ensuring compliance with quality standards.\nMaintain an attractive organized appearance of the store, tidy up and restock shelves, clean, sweep, dust, and mop as necessary.\nAbide by store policy and procedures.\nAssist with inventory reconciliation (cycle counting).\nProvide excellent service to guests and donors.\nAct as a Team Lead/Working Supervisor for Store Associates only in the absence of the Store Manager.\nMay be required to show some operations and provide on-the-job-training to staff.\nMaintains a safe and healthy work environment through compliance with Health & Safety regulations.\nPerforms other work-related duties as assigned.\nCRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:\nInternal: NRO Administration, TS management and staff.\nExternal: Donors, clients, contractors.\nMANAGERIAL/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:\nReports directly to the Store Manager.\nDirect reports: None.\nMay show others how to perform certain procedures.\nFINANCIAL AND MATERIAL MANAGEMENT:\nModerate material responsibility.\nMay occasionally handle petite cash.\nWORKING CONDITIONS:\nThis is a permanent full-time position.\nNormal store environment.\nConstant physical effort (such as stretching, lifting up to 30 pounds with no assistance, bending, twisting, pushing, standing, and walking).\nFrequent exposure to fumes and dust and temperature fluctuations.\nAdherence to established deadlines must be met.\nFrequent amount of interpersonal conflict dealing with guests, donors, vendors, and employees.\nWork is varied with periods of repetitious tasks.\nEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:\nWillingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.\nWork in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.\nAlternative combination of education and Experience may be considered.\nEducation, Qualifications and Certifications:\nCompletion of some high school.\nExperience and Knowledge:\nTwo years of experience in a store or warehouse environment.\nSkills and Capabilities:\nProven interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.\nPhysically capable of lifting/carrying up to 30 lbs on a frequent basis with no assistance from others, which includes bending, twisting, pulling, pushing of product.\nAttention to details.\nAbility to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion.\nThis Job Posting is for Sydney Thrift Store (New Store) 2455 Beacon Avenue, Sidney, V8L 1X7\nCompensation:\nThe target hiring range for this position is $18.25 to $22.23 with a maximum of $26.20.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.\nThe Salvation Army will provide reasonable accommodation upon request.
