This role is a combination of field service and shop work, giving technicians the opportunity to diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment both at customer job sites and in the shop.\nYou'll perform diagnostics, field service, preventive maintenance, and repairs on major heavy equipment brands. While much of the work is performed in the field using a service truck, you'll also support the branch with in-shop diagnostics, repairs, inspections, equipment preparation, and rental readiness as needed.\nThis is not an entry-level role. The employer is looking for a seasoned technician with strong troubleshooting skills, the ability to work independently, and the confidence to handle complex mechanical and electrical issues while providing excellent customer service.\nWhat You'll Do\nDiagnose equipment malfunctions using meters, diagnostic tools, and field-testing methods\nPerform repairs on engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and machine control systems\nConduct scheduled maintenance and major service intervals on heavy equipment\nHandle field service calls to return equipment to operation or assist in transporting units back to the shop\n Perform in-shop diagnostics, repairs, inspections, and equipment preparation to support branch operations as needed\nRepair and maintain components such as enclosures, dashboards, wiring, lighting systems, and control panels\nPrepare equipment for rental readiness, ensuring machines meet safety and performance standards\nMove equipment in and out of the yard/shop using forklifts or operating the units directly\nMaintain accurate repair records, work orders, and inspection documentation\nKeep tools, service truck, and work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety procedures\nCommunicate effectively with the branch team and customers while on job sites\nWhat We're Looking For\nAt least 6 years of hands-on heavy equipment experience (rental industry experience is a plus but not required)\nStrong knowledge of John Deere, Komatsu, Caterpillar, Bobcat, or similar construction equipment\nJLG/Genie certification preferred but not required\nAbility to troubleshoot diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and basic electronics\nComfortable working independently in the field and interacting with customers professionally\nStrong mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn increasingly complex systems\nAble to follow all applicable safety rules, laws, and procedures\nAccurate record keeping in both written work orders and digital systems\nHigh school diploma or
