This role administers hiring processes, coordinates new hire onboarding, maintains employee records, prepares HR documentation, and supports employee lifecycle transactions. The position works closely with Operations Leaders to meet workforce requirements while ensuring recruitment, onboarding, and HR processes are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies and employment legislation.\nLocation & Travel: This is an in-office position within our West Kelowna office. Some travel to the West Kootenays may be required.\nWhy Join the Sutherland Group?\nDiverse career opportunities across transportation, logistics, industrial services, and construction \nCompetitive pay, comprehensive rewards, and benefits \nOpportunities to build a long-term career, not just a job \nA collaborative culture built on safety, respect, and transparency \nMeaningful work that supports the success of multiple businesses and teams \nLocal roots and proud supporters of the communities where we live and work \nCompensation & Schedule\n$60,000 - $70,000 per year\nCompensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and overall alignment with the requirements of the role.\nResponsibilities\nManage full-cycle recruitment activities, including requisition intake, job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, reference checks, offers, and pre-employment requirements.\nPartner with Operations Leaders to understand workforce needs and support timely, effective hiring outcomes.\nServe as the primary point of contact for candidates throughout the recruitment process, ensuring a professional and responsive experience.\nSource candidates through various recruitment channels and utilize technology, automation, and best practices to improve hiring efficiency and candidate engagement.\nCoordinate onboarding activities from offer acceptance through the employee's first 90 days, including documentation, orientation, training, and system access.\nMonitor onboarding progress and support successful employee integration, engagement, and retention.\nMaintain recruitment and onboarding processes, templates, workflows, and documentation while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and standardization.\nTrack recruitment and onboarding metrics, analyze trends, and provide reporting and recommendations to support workforce planning and operational decision-making.\nMaintain employee records, HR systems, and documentation with a high degree of accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.\nSupport employee lifecycle administration and HR initiatives, including employment changes, letters, workforce planning, engagement, training, and organizational growth.\nQualifications\nRequired\n2+ years of experience in recruitment, talent acquisition, human resources, or HR administration.\nExperience coordinating full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and employee lifecycle activities.\nDemonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.\nStrong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills with a customer-service mindset.\nExperience using HRIS, Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), Microsoft Office, and related HR technologies.\nAbility to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive employee information.\nPreferred\nPost-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.\nCPHR designation or active pursuit of a CPHR designation.\nExperience supporting operational, trades, construction, transportation, or field-based teams.\nExperience developing or improving HR processes, SOPs, workflows, and automation solutions.\nKnowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.\nExperience utilizing recruitment technology, automation, or AI tools to improve efficiency and candidate experience.\nBenefits & Total Rewards\nExtended health, dental and vision \nLife and travel insurance coverages \nComprehensive wellness and paramedical support \nEmployee assistance program \nGenerous pension matching \nReferral bonus opportunities \nAbout Sutherland Group\nThe Sutherland Group is a family of companies operating across transportation, construction, forestry, environmental, mining, marine, and industrial services.
