These holistic programs and services reach more than 10,000 individuals and families annually in five languages. Programs include early childhood education, youth mentorship and leadership development, employment services, career readiness training, housing and financial stability, senior citizen services, affordable housing and neighborhood development, and arts and cultural events. Our work expands beyond the Fruitvale district and now reaches across Oakland and into Contra Costa County. The Unity Council employs a diverse workforce of more than 300 people who reflect the linguistic, cultural, and ethnic identity of the communities we serve.\nPosition Summary\nUnder the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Coordinator will oversee maintenance and repairs of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), carpentry, painting, and other building systems; preventative maintenance and capital improvement projects of the assigned properties.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nThe duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:\nOversees the day-to-day operations of the maintenance and drivers such as ensuring work orders are completed in a timely manner, prioritizing Health and Safety work orders or any Health and Safety emergencies unit turnovers, capital improvement projects, and cleanliness of all CFS facilities. \nEvaluates systems or facilities to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed.\nAssesses building systems to plan work assignments and project schedules.\nEnsures proper execution of the preventative maintenance schedule established for CFS facilities. \nPerforms routine and specialized maintenance work as needed and assigned by Operations Manager \nDevelop and implement replacement schedules.\nCover driver/s when any of them are off, on leave or vacations.\nAssist Operations Manager with projects.\nPerforms facility inspections with the operation manager.\nDevelops maintenance procedures and schedules.\nHandles high-level technical tasks requiring advanced knowledge and problem-solving skills.\nCoordinates and communicates with third-party vendors to schedule and oversee necessary services.\nServes as on-call support for urgent maintenance needs or emergencies.\nSchedules maintenance services or projects before operating hours, after working hours or on weekends.\nPerforms other related duties as assigned.\nSupervisory\nHires and trains, maintenance, and drivers a cross Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.\nOrganizes and oversees the schedules and work of maintenance and drivers.\nConducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. \nHandles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy. \nQualifications\nMust have reliable automobile transportation to transport tools, material and equipment from property to property, and a valid California Driver’s license and insurance.\nAt least five years of maintenance experience is required.\nExtensive knowledge of building systems such as plumbing, electrical, and HVAC, and drywall skills.\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills.\nKnowledge of CAL/OSHA safety requirements and building codes.\nAbility to identify issues and determine repairs that are needed.\nAbility to plan maintenance schedules for building systems.\nAbility, willingness, and sensitivity to work with a diverse population.\nExcellent management and supervisory skills.\nAbility to work with minimal supervision.\nProficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required.\nBilingual in English and Spanish are highly desired.\nPhysical Requirements\nMust be able to traverse property and facility to diagnose building issues and plan repairs or maintenance.\nMust be physically able to perform repairs when needed.\nProlonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.\nMust be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.\nMust be able climb stairs, reach, bend, crawl, kneel, stoop, twist, grasp with hands and fingers materials, use arms and legs, able to walk, climb ladders if applicable. \nRegularly required to use hands to operate computer and other office equipment; \nClose vision required for computer use. \nPre-Employment Requirements\nPhysical exam \nTB test \nBackground/fingerprint clearance \nMMR and Tdap vaccinations, \nCPR \nChild Abuse Mandated Reporter Training \nThis description is not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of duties, responsibilities or requirements for the position.
