About This Opportunity

Join the School of Political Science and International Studies as a Senior Project Officer and play a key role in delivering an exciting ARC Future Fellowship project, “Paths to Primacy: How Rising Powers Win Domination in Asia, 1500-Present.”

Working closely with Professor Andrew Phillips and School leadership, you will support the end-to-end coordination and delivery of this significant research project. Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate the project delivery cycle, including planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, while tracking milestones, timelines and deliverables.

  • Manage and deliver scholarly workshops, public-facing events and stakeholder meetings, including event design, invitations, logistics, communications and follow-up.

  • Promote project outputs through online, social media and traditional platforms, and support the analysis and communication of project impact.

  • Monitor project expenditure and financial commitments, maintain accurate working budget records, and support forecasting, administration and reporting.

About You

  • A Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant experience in the tertiary education, government or industry sector, combined with demonstrated project management capability.

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating complex projects involving multiple deliverables, deadlines and stakeholders.

  • A developing understanding of project management methodologies and frameworks, with the ability to support planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting.

  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, including the ability to balance competing priorities and deliver outcomes within tight timeframes.

  • Advanced written and oral communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear project documentation, updates, briefs and research dissemination materials.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and exercise diplomacy and judgement when engaging with senior academic and professional staff, government and non-government representatives, industry partners, donors, alumni and project participants.

  • Experience using Microsoft tools, social media and web content platforms, or a demonstrated ability to learn new project management and communication systems quickly.

  • An interest in the social sciences, particularly political science and international studies, is welcomed but not required.
