The remaining 20% supports data engineering initiatives by enabling trusted access to enterprise data assets and integrating with modern cloud data platforms.\nThe ideal candidate combines strong backend engineering fundamentals with experience building scalable APIs, developer platforms, observability solutions, and AI-assisted software development workflows.\n Responsibilities\nAPI and Backend Engineering (80%)\n· Design, develop, and maintain scalable GraphQL and REST APIs.\n· Build cloud-native microservices using TypeScript and modern backend frameworks.\n· Develop reusable backend services supporting digital, AI, analytics, and data-product initiatives.\n· Design and implement API contracts, versioning strategies, and service integrations.\n· Build MCP servers, consumable by AI Agents\n· Build secure APIs using OAuth2, JWT, OpenID Connect, and enterprise security standards.\n· Develop event-driven and asynchronous processing solutions.\n· Create reusable SDKs, libraries, and developer enablement tools.\n· Implement observability, logging, monitoring, and alerting using Splunk, PagerDuty, Honeycomb with OpenTelemetry.\n· Optimize service performance, scalability, reliability, and resiliency.\n· Collaborate with product owners, architects, and engineering teams to define enterprise integration patterns.\n· Use Claude Code and similar AI coding tools to accelerate development, testing, documentation, and code quality.\n· Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, and engineering standards development.\n· Support CI/CD automation, Infrastructure as Code, and DevSecOps practices.\nData Engineering and Platform Integration (20%)\n· Develop API layers that expose trusted enterprise data products.\n· Integrate backend services with Databricks, AWS Redshift, and other cloud data platforms.\n· Support data-pipeline development and data-movement patterns.\n· Partner with data engineers to enable real-time and batch data access.\n· Contribute to logical and physical data modeling.\n· Support AWS Glue-based ingestion and transformation workflows.\n· Help establish standards for data quality, metadata, and governance integration.\nQualifications and Skills\n\nMinimum 8 years of relevant work experience, with at least 4 years in designing and maintaining data pipelines, ETL processes and database architectures.\nBachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Computer Science or IT, or Bachelor’s in Data Science, Statistics, or related field.\nBackend and API Development\n· TypeScript: advanced hands-on proficiency\n· GraphQL API design and development\n· REST API design and development\n· MCP Server design and development\n· Node.js and modern backend frameworks\n· Microservices architecture\n· API gateway technologies\n· OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and JWT authentication\n· CI/CD and DevOps practices\n· Git and modern source-control workflows\n· Claude Code\n· Splunk monitoring, logging, and observability\n· Event-driven architecture and messaging systems\nCloud and Platform Engineering\n· AWS cloud services\n· Infrastructure as Code, with Terraform preferred\n· Automated testing frameworks and quality-engineering practices\nDesired Data Engineering Skills\n· AWS\n· Data-pipeline development\n· Data modeling\n· Databricks\n· AWS Redshift\n· AWS Glue\n· Apache Spark\n· Data quality and governance\n· Real-time and batch data processing\nPreferred Experience\n· Building enterprise-scale API platforms.\n· Developing backend services that support AI and machine-learning solutions.\n· Enabling agentic AI and AI-assisted development workflows.\n· Working in highly regulated enterprise environments.\n· Supporting mission-critical, high-volume production systems.\n· Building platforms that serve multiple engineering teams through reusable APIs and shared services.\nSuccess Measures\n\n· Increased API reuse across engineering teams.\n· Reduced integration-development effort through standardized services.\n· Improved platform reliability, observability, and scalability.\n· Faster software delivery through AI-assisted development workflows.\n· Strong adoption of engineering standards, security controls, and API governance practices.\n· Reduced operational incidents through proactive monitoring and automated testing.\nLocation\nThis role is based in Hyderabad, Telangana at Vanguard India.
