You’ll help build scalable, secure, high-performing applications while influencing architecture and engineering practices along the way.\nCore Responsibilities\nOwn features end to end, translating business and technical requirements into well-designed, scalable solutions and leading them from architecture and development through deployment and production support.\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain full-stack applications using Angular, Java, TypeScript, and AWS, including integrations with third-party services and APIs.\nBuild modern API-driven solutions using GraphQL and RESTful APIs, with an emphasis on modular, maintainable architecture.\nCreate responsive and accessible user experiences aligned with enterprise design systems, web standards, and reusable component patterns.\nDevelop and enhance CI/CD pipelines and automated build, test, and deployment processes using modern DevOps and containerization practices, including Docker.\nPartner closely with product, UX, QA, security, infrastructure, and platform teams to deliver reliable, high-quality digital experiences.\nApply sound engineering judgment to architecture, design patterns, security, performance, and application scalability.\nParticipate in design reviews, code reviews, and testing, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and mentor less-experienced developers.\nSupport applications in production and contribute to incident, change, and release management.\nExplore emerging AI-assisted engineering patterns and tools, including agentic AI and MCP-based workflows, to improve development, testing, and documentation while maintaining strong engineering judgment and governance.\nEnsure solutions meet Vanguard’s technology, quality, security, and information security standards.\nQualifications\n6+ years of relevant software development experience, including advanced or senior-level full-stack development experience.\nUndergraduate degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.\nStrong hands-on development experience with Angular, Java, and TypeScript.\nProven experience building and deploying applications on AWS.\nExperience designing, building, and consuming GraphQL and RESTful APIs.\nExperience with CI/CD, build and deployment automation, and containerization technologies such as Docker.\nStrong understanding of secure web development, including authentication and authorization.\nExperience working with or contributing to enterprise design systems.\nSolid knowledge of web standards, accessibility, and responsive design.\nExposure to AI development standards, frameworks, models, or libraries such as LangGraph, Model Context Protocol (MCP), or OpenAI technologies.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills in English are required, with the ability to collaborate effectively across global, cross-functional, and matrixed teams.\nHow We Work\nVanguard has implemented a hybrid working model for the majority of our crew members, designed to capture the benefits of enhanced flexibility while enabling in-person learning, collaboration, and connection.
