WE FUEL UPTIME.\nPosition Summary\nThe Cost Accountant is responsible for analyzing, monitoring, and reporting on costs related to inventory, manufacturing, operations, and overall business performance. This role partners closely with Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and other business leaders to ensure accurate product costing, inventory valuation, margin analysis, and financial reporting. The Cost Accountant identifies cost-saving opportunities, supports budgeting and forecasting processes, and provides financial insights that drive informed business decisions.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nMaintain and analyze standard costs for products, materials, labor, and overhead.\nPerform inventory accounting, including reconciliations, cycle count reviews, physical inventory support, and inventory reserve analysis.\nAnalyze manufacturing and operational variances and provide explanations to management.\nMonitor inventory transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting policies.\nAssist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and reporting.\nPrepare and distribute cost and profitability reports for management review.\nAnalyze product margins, pricing, and operational performance to identify trends and opportunities.\nSupport budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning activities related to manufacturing and operational costs.\nReview bills of materials (BOMs), routings, and production data to ensure accurate product costing.\nCollaborate with Operations, Purchasing, and Supply Chain teams to improve cost controls and operational efficiencies.\nAssist with internal and external audits by providing supporting documentation and analysis.\nEnsure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), company policies, and internal controls.\nParticipate in process improvement initiatives and system implementations related to accounting, inventory, and cost management.\nDevelop ad hoc financial analyses and reports as requested by management.\nPerform other duties as assigned by supervisor.\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.\nMinimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in cost accounting, manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environments.\nExperience with ERP systems and inventory management processes required.\nCertified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or progress toward certification preferred.\nStrong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory accounting, and financial reporting.\nKnowledge of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation methods.\nAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial modeling.\nExperience working with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.\nExcellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non-financial audiences.\nHigh level of accuracy, attention to detail, and professional judgment.\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively across departments.\nSuccessful completion of pre-employment background and drug screening.\nFosters good coworker citizenship and contributes to a positive work environment.\nPhysical Demands and Work Environment\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
