Full-time onsite\nPosition Summary\nThe Inventory Control Coordinator is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels and overseeing the receipt, storage, tracking, and distribution of sheet metal materials, fittings, HVAC hardware, consumables, and shop supplies. This position supports fabrication operations by ensuring materials are available to meet production schedules while maintaining compliance with company procedures, union work rules, and safety standards.\nThe Inventory Control Coordinator works closely with the Foremen, Purchasing Department, and Fabrication to ensure efficient material flow and inventory accuracy throughout the shop.\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nMaterial Receiving and Processing\nReceive and verify incoming materials against purchase orders, packing slips, and shipping documents.\nInspect deliveries for quantity, quality, and damage.\nCoordinate resolution of shortages, damaged materials, and vendor discrepancies.\nLabel, identify, and store materials in designated inventory locations.\nMaintain receiving logs and inventory records.\nInventory Management\nMaintain accurate inventory of sheet metal stock, coils, flat sheets, ductwork components, hardware, weld materials, sealants, and shop consumables.\nPerform daily inventory monitoring and routine cycle counts.\nConduct monthly and annual physical inventories.\nInvestigate and resolve inventory variances.\nMonitor minimum and maximum stock levels and communicate replenishment needs\nProduction Support\nCoordinate material issuance to fabrication personnel based on production schedules.\nEnsure work centers have required materials available to meet production demands.\nTrack remnant material inventory and scrap recovery opportunities.\nAssist in minimizing material waste and improving shop efficiency\nWarehouse and Shop Organization\nMaintain organized storage areas, racks, and inventory locations.\nEnsure proper handling and storage of materials to prevent damage.\nMonitor housekeeping standards within inventory and warehouse areas.\nSupport lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.\nCoordination and Communication\nWork closely with Purchasing to maintain appropriate inventory levels.\nCoordinate with Foreman regarding project material requirements.\nCommunicating material shortages and lead-time concerns to shop leadership.\nSupport fabrication scheduling by ensuring material availability.\nSafety and Compliance\nFollow all company safety policies and union work rules.\nMaintain OSHA-compliant storage and material handling practices.\nOperate forklifts and material handling equipment safely.\nParticipate in safety meetings and training programs.\nQualifications\nRequired\nHigh school diploma or GED.\nMinimum 3 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or material management.\nExperience in sheet metal fabrication, HVAC, construction, or manufacturing environments.\nAbility to read bills of materials, fabrication drawings, and purchase orders.\nBasic proficiency with Microsoft Office and inventory management systems.\nStrong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely.\nPreferred\nExperience in a union sheet metal fabrication environment.\nKnowledge of HVAC ductwork fabrication processes and materials.\nExperience with ERP/MRP systems and inventory software.\nForklift certification.\nUnderstanding of SMART Union shop operations and work practices.\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.\nFrequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and climbing.\nAbility to work in a shop and warehouse environment with varying temperatures.\nAbility to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and material handling equipment.\nPerformance Expectations\nMaintain inventory accuracy of 98% or greater.\nMinimize fabrication downtime due to material shortages.\nEnsure timely receiving and distribution of materials.\nMaintain organized and safe storage areas.\nSupport on-time project completion through effective inventory management.\nHourly Compensation: $35-$40.
